SAXET Gun Show (2-3 June 2012)

Well, it's been a while since we met up for this one; been traveling a lot and am not always home on Saturdays.

We'll most likely be at the usual location (IHOP) for the usual reason (breakfast) at the usual time (8:00am) on the usual date (Saturday) for the usual ritual (pre-show nutrition).

For anyone not familiar, this is the SAXET show held at the SA Event Center, 410 & Marbach the first weekend of every month. The pre-show ritual of breakfast means you not only go to the show on a full stomach, but many times you get to meet the fine folks from this forum for coffee and some entertaining banter. You can also get a good parking spot in front of the venue before they start charging three bucks for the privilege.

Post up if you think you might make it, or if you have any questions. This may not be as good as the show over at the Freeman Expo Center, but it's 800+ tables and can be a lot of fun.

Saw a great deal at SAXET last month, but did not have the cash on hand to pull the trigger.

Saw the same gun at Cabela's last Sunday at $30.00 more + tax.

Put it on my CC post haste.

What's thirty bucks? (Six packs of smokes): Cut back that much in a week and I break even!

I'm going to try to make this one. Where is the IHOP located?

It's at 410 and Marbach, a block in front of the show venue. Just take 410 south past IH-10, past hwy 151, exit Marbach Rd. Take the turnaround, and it will quickly be on the right. Everybody usually goes and parks (for free), than walks to the IHOP.

Slight possibility I'll get a pass this weekend. May not make the breakfast but will try to get to the show. If I'm coming in on I-10 from the North, what's the best route to the show?

I would take I-10 to HWY 90 to Loop 410 if it were me.

You think coming down 410 to Marbach might be more straight-forward and quicker, or not? Saxet schedule says $3.00 parking but somebody mentioned free parking?

Well 10 runs into 90 so you're pretty much going the same way. If you get off of 90 and onto 410 then you don't even actually need to get onto 410 at all because Marbach is the next exit from 90, so you can just stay on the access road and go through the light at 410+Marbach to turn into the IHOP parking lot (which is right next to the event center).

If you get to the Event Center early enough (when we're having breakfast) you don't have to pay a parking fee because they aren't set up yet to collect the money.
