And then we reach the fifth and final stage: acceptance.

I'm pretty skeptical about the whole thing now. This whole investigation is sketchy. Although funny, I don't believe there was a BOS, so if I guy in Lubbock was manufacturing illegal weapons, how did they trace it to him? First they only identify the rifle as "AR-15 like", and now say he purchased it from a guy in Lubbock. How was it built illegally? If that means stolen parts, how would they trace it? Even a ghost gun wouldn't point to Lubbock.

How would a weapon created from an 80% lower be tracked back to the builder?
And I'm not talking about the obvious ways such as BOS, etc....

The first easy answer is text messages saved on the buyers phone. Or if the seller was a known dude selling illegal stuff having his phone number in the buyers cell phone

Facebook marketplace messages or any other online "message" system

Maybe I should have asked if the builder could be found just from looking at the gun?

And no, he didn't etch his name or anything into it...

If you finish a 80% lower and latter on decide to sell it there is no problem. The only problem is if you are making them with the intent to sell them.

And intent can be proved by multiple sales. If the sales are FTF and no paperwork it could be hard to prove unless you are the government. They seem to find witnesses out of the air. Of course if you buy 50 80% lowers and only have 5 in your possession that might be a clue.

Law-enforcement officials suspect the man was buying various gun parts to build his own guns and then reselling them.
