Respect for my fellow man ends when "that man" disrespects my God and The Lordship of Jesus Christ, My Country (i.e., the Constitution), and My Family. I prefer the term progressive, but Libtard is fine with me as well. Political correctness hiding under the blanket of some who like to call it "hate speech" will feel my wrath.

So my fellow Patriots....call them as you see them. If the "shoe fits, they wear it".

Now time out for you youngster. I have personally sacrificed my body so others can use the term "libtard".

    Get it?

    "Your wrath"?

I swear, every time you post I cringe and you never miss out on a chance to jump down my throat. Sit down, old timer. <3

Need I remind everybody of the first two rules of the political forum:

    1. You must respect the fact that others are going to disagree.
    2. ABSOLUTELY NO NAME CALLING

Perhaps some of you aren't mature enough to be here?

Conversely, one's political beliefs, morals, ethics, etc. are, in no small way, a choice. In an attempt to go straight for the throat, Cockwork inadvertently compared apples to oranges.

While I do concede that it may be apples and oranges and an extreme comparison, it does make a point. Changing one deragatory word for another helps to demonstrate the effect of the statement as being hateful. I do NOT agree that politics, morals, or ethics are neccessarily a choice. Sometimes a person is a product of their environment.

This is only true to an extent. One may change his morals, ethics or political leanings, but one may not change his heritage. (Sitting President excluded)

Pardon my absence of political correctness, but then, I don't give a damn...LOL

I would prefer the "libturds" and "libtards", progressives, socialists, communists, anarchists, and fascists (i.e., frankly, those who do not respect the Constitution) to leave this country.

    Need I pontificate any further?

The vast majority of posts on this forum that have anything to do with politics, like those in this thread, are so completely devoid of factual support and riddled with flawed reasoning that I don't even know where I would start. But then again, I am probably just a gun/America/God hating liberal idiot who doesn't have the capacity to formulate rational thoughts or tie my shoelaces.

Thank god for our socialist dictatorship that allows capable folks to support me in my infantile views and lack of basic human decency.

Don't forget that First Amendment thing, which enables us all to have and form our own opinions.
Some days it is best to agree to disagree and move on.

Oh, I fully respect everyone one here's right to voice their opinion, and my feelings ain't hurt. I will, however, exercise my right to do the same. It's worth remembering too that the 1st amendment allows us all to have an opinion and voice it, it does not say that everyone's opinion, mine or others, will be valid.

I find a lot of humor in the fact that the ideology of the right is so strongly identified with "christian values", while one of the most popular ideas I've seen here and in other places is that if you don't agree with us politically you are less of a person, and morally bankrupt. Love and tolerance of others seems to be a "christian value" that many have conveniently chosen to ignore. I may be wrong in assuming that most would identify themselves as Christians, maybe many of the people on here are pagans whose tree gods don't give a damn about brotherly love.

    +1

And of course, bringing it up is only asking to be flamed by the religious right.

    ....etc.

That's all well and good, but that article doesn't provide any evidence to support it's claims. No citations, no quotations, no references. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with it, but it's sad to see political discourse devolve to this point. Stuff like this doesn't make any convincing arguments, it's just a bunch of yelling. It's only real purpose is, as far as I can tell, is to provide people who have similarly unfounded views with a source of validation.

And to say that this country was "founded on" religion is just plain misinformed. The founders of this country intended quite clearly for faith to be a matter of individual preference and not a state affair. And no, religion doesn't scare me. What concerns me is people who identify and align themselves with a particular faith, and live and act in gross defiance of the principles of that faith. It tarnishes the image of a great religion based on peace and love, making people associate it's adherents with hypocrisy and intolerance.

"Believing... that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their Legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State." --Thomas Jefferson to Danbury Baptists, 1802.
