And it only takes 1 or 2 to create distrust...Parallel Subject: Didn't the US military place overloaded, exploding 7.62 X 39 rounds in different cashes of enemy ammo during the Vietnam war?
Old trick, new twist. Sounds right.
The last pager I had used AAA batteries. Been a while.
Are the newer ones rechargeable lithium-ion? And can you actually force a small lithium battery to explode with that kind of force? I thought the "thermal runaway" effect was far more likely to cause combustion, not a literal explosion.
Rumor has it that the pagers were sourced from Iran.Funny the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon had his pager blow up at the same time. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.
That can make the battery burn and some batteries pop from pressure (often it will just make the cell turgid), but it wouldn't blow the pager to bits or cause injury beyond maybe a small burn. Highly improbable to cause life threatening injury or kill someone. Vapes had a reputation for their batteries catching fire and popping for a while, but its not something I remember hearing anying die from.Don't need an explosive for lithium, just a 'shorting' circuit.
..and so it begins.
Israeli intelligence services are pretty good.............I am currently reading "Vengance" about their response to the killing in the Olympic village back in '72 in Munich..........damn good bookNow consider the fear the terrorists are living with, wondering which other electronic device might take them out. Poetic.
Fighting terrorism with terrorism, seems legit. Now consider the fear the terrorists are living with, wondering which other electronic device might take them out. Poetic.
