Plus the flames during nighttime qualifying, awesome. In the 60's my friend had a top fuel dragster, at the track every weekend. I mixed fuel, packed parachutes and sometimes drove the push car (no starter motors then and no reverse gear).

My wife is so addicted that every time a race comes close she just buys tickets, doesn't even ask. Often few extra so we can take someone along.. Taking a first timer is half the fun. Seeing those dinner plate sized eyeballs after the first pass is always worth the ticket price..

@striker55 started a new thread yesterday about the Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive touring around the country and coming to Texas in October, and that seems like it deserves a photo here:

My 3 year old grandson is car crazy like I've never seen, he's obsessed. I can't wait to take him to his first top fuel event in Ennis. Dude is going to have the time of his life.
I keep trying to convince people that haven't been that seeing it on TV is NOTHING like being there. I reckon it to be like the difference between having sex and watching porn. Until you've been there you have NO idea.

First ever private spacewalk happened today. Look at that freaking spacesuit - NASA's suits are bulky and appear to be a good foot thick on the astronauts' bodies, with a giant fishbowl helmet and rigid limbs that don't seem to be able to bend at the elbows and knees. Very little has changed there since the Apollo suits.

SpaceX spacesuits...look like ski jackets with motorcycle helmets. Looks like the whole purpose of this spacewalk was to test the suit and its mobility - you see Jared Isaacman moving his elbows and shoulders, testing how he can reach various parts of the spacecraft in his suit. Damned impressive.

General Nathan Twining was Air Force Chief of Staff from 1953-1957, and he's mentioned by name in the first sentence of the article, so that's a pretty good guess.

Look up NB36X. Was the flying test bed for nuclear powered. Operated out of Carswell some…
