    Overreaction, maybe? From the article:

But while the sheriff called the arrest a thwarted assassination attempt, the man told a reporter he is a Trump supporter who bought the guns for his own safety and notified police at a checkpoint that they were in the trunk of his car.

Of course the car also supposedly had fake tags and the driver had a fake ID...but at the same time if he told the cops about the guns then he couldn't have been a serious potential assassin.

Do not jump to conclusions so fast!
The NY Post decided to run with the story and created a storm online:

So far, this guy has shown to be conservative, a Trump supporter.

If anything, I have learned NEVER to trust the media headlines and sound bites.

    We'll see what happens!

    Oh wow!
Someone is "cleaning" X with his videos at Trump rallies showing support, talking to people, and taking pictures with many known folks.

p.s: I have the video, but I can not upload it :(

Plus only a $5,000 bond which means $500.00 upfront to walk out and court appearance in January...wow a bad guy captured in time.

I ain't clicked, but it sounds like how I roll every day.
Of course there's guns and loaded magazines in my vehicle.
    If it ain't legal, I don't go.

Yeah, it's looking like someone who's super wary of the government and who didn't pay attention to the fact that he was going to an event in the People's Republic of California...and a sheriff who's maybe a bit gung-ho on the whole "Trump's safety is my responsibility here" vibe.

Better to have the guy in custody.

These 3 (so far) idiots are not the serious threats that former (foreign and domestic) military / paramilitary shooters possess. Mil snipers have the honed sharpshooter skills, fieldcraft knowledge, support and exfil abilities that would elude the SS.

Lee Harvey had a couple but not all of those attributes.

On the flip side, I would expect ex Ranger snipers / Recon snipers and Canadian Joint Task Force 2 (and those from a dozen more foreign groups) would totally outclass current federal protection, which makes me think the “protection” provided by the SS is as much security theater as some of TSA practices.

Maybe Trump needs to hire more reliable and capable former SOF security than what he receives from the Feds?

I expect the commies to pull out all the stops in their attempts to kill Trump between now and Jan 20. They will not abide him moving back into the White Hut. Soon they'll stop sending amateurs, and start sending professional killers.
