No, I'm saving those to share with the wife and kids.Good morning to you! Didja have back straps for breakfast?
#1...how to invite me over for dinner. So, I've got a venison front quarter I'm intending to get the family's dinner out of tonight - hopefully on the grill. I haven't had venison since I was a teenager, and I've never prepared it before.
Anyone care to start the long list of things I should know?
Crock Pot some Venison stew. Maybe 6-8 hours on low-medium.Hmmm...from a little reading, looks like it should probably go in the crock pot rather than the grill. Might grill up too tough...
But advice is sought and appreciated.
I was going to suggest a slow cooked roast. I like the old tried and true can of cream of mushroom soup and a package of onion soup mix, cook it all day.
Used 570 Polaris, old guys gotta save where we canWhere'd you get an ATV for only $6k?
That sounds like a plan. I have cooked lamb shanks the same way (except lamb has way more grease that must be skimmed off) and they're not much smaller the the upper leg of a deer.Sadly I don't have all day...but I do have an InstantPot, which does an amazing job of cutting down cook times without sacrificing quality. It's looking like this will be a shoulder roast. What can I do with the upper leg, though? Another roast for another time?
OK, I just went with what I had. It turns out, the National Forest has some decent deer anyway.

Cut into 3/4" rounds.
Season and tenderize/flatten with meat hammer.
Chicken fry in skillet with favorite flour coating.
(works the same with wild duck and goose slab breasts).
I hit him with a 30.06 150 grain. It was the Winchester Deer Season line through a left hand Savage Axis.Very nice looking buck you bagged there.
What did you zap it with?

The phone rings. There's silence, then I can hear background noise. Ha! Not a recording!
Me: "Operations desk."
Scammer: "Ah...hello? Do you have a moment to..."
"Okay, who is this and who are you with?"
"Uhh...dis is Michael and de reason for my short call is to inform you of new FCC..."
"Michael, do you know where it is that you've called?"
"Umm...no..."
"Good. Michael, this is a secure line to a classified facility. You need to make sure this number is removed from your database immediately. Do you understand, Michael?"
"Ohh...shit...uh...yes..." (click)
