I've got a few hours drive which will be punctuated by calls from my Lt Colonel on amateur radio and cell phone. Maybe I should play this tune each time he calls.

At my age if there is any drill involved , it will be a battery operated tool. Other than a morning and evening formation, I plan to stay in the Communications Room.

The single biggest motivational factor for me retiring from AD was being in the position of having to execute unfunded mandates. Accomplish training event X but FY funding is not available due to Congress.

I considered the State Guard pretty heavily and realized I could not in good conscience put volunteers in the position of conducting a training event AND me or them having to fund it through personal funds obligation.

That was a tough decision to make.
