What does the LGBTQ have to do with anything? The ship lost power, hit the reef then sank. Her sexual preferences had nothing to do with any of that. By all accounts, she made the right decision to abandon the vessel saving all suols aboard.

And she's a lesbian, not transgender; so the pronouns are correct.
