    I'm 28.

I wear jeans just about daily and wear a shirt with buttons or a polo when I take my wife out. I wear a belt and a gun and knife. I wear boots unless I'm wearing shorts. I have callouses and always have cuts in my hands. My parents will make sure to give me shit if my hair gets too long or if I gain weight or look weak.

But i grew up on a ranch and did 4-H and FFA and took welding and electrical shop in high school. You can show your kids what a man is supposed to do and act like. They choose what they want to be like.

My wife tells the boy he always needs bandaids, I came in with electrical tape and he asked what it was I explained to him how bandaids are for boy and manaids are for men

It is like all this hand sanitizer crap everywhere.

I never wash my hands and teach my kids the same. We very seldom get sick either. We are a tough breed and I do what I can to push that.

Thanks for the advance notice to never shake your hand. And for how long have you been whiping your own behind? Haha

One of my kids was hospitalized for a week and could have died at age 3 because a highly antibiotic-resistant bacteria attacked him and covered a huge chunk of his body in just a couple days. There's some serious stuff out there that didn't used to exist.

Not washing your hands is a horrible idea. Especially if you're ever around hospitals.

My grandpa was an old school Vet and was one of the toughest people I've ever seen. Probably washed his hands 20 times a day.

I'm calling bullshit on that one.

Ever wonder how bacteria became antibiotic resistant? Because everything we do is "antibacterial".....those usually kill 99.9% of bacteria....meaning that .01% of that bacteria is on steroids and breeding! We are creating super infections because we are such germaphobes!

I am never around a hospital. I don't work in the food industry or touch other people's food. I am generally not in a position to pass germs on to others.

I work around guys that start chugging Nyquil every time they get the sniffles. Pop aspirin every time they get a little headache. And miss at least a day of work every month because of some kind of stomache bug.

I take no medicine and haven't missed a day of work in over 15 years.

If hand sanizer or soap will kill it so will my immune system.

That being said, my hands get washed during my monthly shower (whether I need it or not).

Yea but no...it's not the soap killing the bacteria, it's the water washing away the germs so they don't take hold is what keeps things orderly. That philosophy will be fine as long as you stay away from others - forever. The problem is when many people, such as yourself, inhabit a dense populated area.

    ...

We try to stay as far away from hospitals as we can too. There are some nasty superbugs that come out of those places.

And yeah, bacteria like MRSA is common on meat in stores these days. A byproduct of over-administering anti biotics to cattle for years.

ETA: maybe our cattle are girly men too? lol

    Washing hands = good

I WILL agree with the problem we've created about antibiotic resistance. People trust doctors way too much and don't question them. I rarely go to doctors (like twice in ten years for anything other than stuff related to my Cushing's Disease). Here's the reason why.

Well, you "likely" have a severe sinus infection. We're going to give you some antibiotics.

    Aren't most sinus infections viral?

    Yes.

Then what good are antibiotics going to do?

Blank stare... Let's do a ZPAC, too

Good day, sir, I'll take that doc note saying I can return to work now.

Sadly, that's not only one doctor and not just my experience. I've been through more doctors than most should ever have to, albeit specialists and PAs, but IME, just because you're a doctor doesn't mean you have the answers or should be giving medical advise and prescriptions out.
