    22lr revolver vs. semi-auto pistol

Which do you think is the most practical choice for field use?

    I'm voting revolver.
    Why?
1.) Can use any ammo. Short, Long, Long rifle, rat shot, CB caps, etc.
My revolver RAFFS at your single shot semi.

2.) WHERE DID MY MAG GO?!?!?!?!?! It WAS in the gun. But now it isn't.
Can't lose a cylinder very easily.

3.) There are these things called Speed Loaders.

4.) Ok, on suppressors, we'll call it a draw.

Honestly don't see any other use for any kind of .22, be it revolver, pistol, bolt action or semi rifle other than for cheap and painless practice/training/teaching.
Comments like this boggle my mind. For me .22lr is by a huge margin the mostly deadly caliber I own. My .22 pistols are also the guns that I shoot the most often.

On the topic of revolver vs semi-auto... Use whichever one feels best in your hand. I've never met a revolver that I can shoot as accurately as a fixed barrel semi auto. They just don't "feel" right to me. I'd assume it goes the other way around for other people.

What happens if you can't get those uber awesome 22 rounds that are the only rounds that work in your semi?
Get rid of that pistol. My two favorites, a MkIII and a SW22, will eat a huge variety of ammo. I don't like spending a lot on ammo... Any ammo that would make a good pistol run poorly will be inconsistent out of a revolver.

The semi's in the gunsafe are getting restless.
    There are murmurs of revolt!
Gonna have to give them some exercise.

I have several .22 LR pieces that include 3 pistols and 5 rifles. I have these to teach woman and children entry level handgun and long gun. Also the 9 G-daughters. To me a .22 is a teaching tool. It is perfect for this. I have some fun with them. But am never excited about shooting them. They are great for varmint control in the yard.....:D
Well, there is this anschutz my buddy owns. He pops suckers at 100 plus with it. Suckers as in lolypops. He will set up a string of them and bust them with ease. That is sorta fun.

I'm 66 years old and have had many guns come and go in my life. All kinds of gun from Colt 1911 to Ruger GP100 and lots of other guns. But the gun I have always shot the mot was my .22. I've had a lot of .22's, but in 1980 I bought a S&W 63 and fell in love. I kept that gun until 2007 when they finally made the S&W an 8 shot cylinder. I trade in my old one and have been happy with my 'new' 8 shot model 63. It has taken over as my favorite gun. I shoot it every week just plinking at cans. It pushed my Ruler super single six and S&W model 617 out of favorite status.

I sold off my old Ruger standard model and MK2 long ago. I find the versatility of the revolver taking all kinds of ammo to be a good thing. I ant to be able to shove any round in there and have it work. Short, long rifle, shot round. And I love being able to use old ammo that if I get a dud, I just pull the trigger again. My 63 is my hiking gun, so it could be pressed into a self defense role, and I like revolvers for the role.

I am an unashamed .22 revolver fan.
