First of all, I'm for all those restrictions in the OP.

I'm seeing Libertarianism once again getting confused with the Libertarian party, which is unfortunate and not worth debating.

Most Libertarians believe in a government that is invested with certain powers and responsibilities, such as defend the nation, protect free trade, and punish criminals. Stopping Ebola from entering the country and spreading undeniably falls under these powers.

Libertarians are not for open borders, as Ron Paul has said, those immigrants would have to pass through private property in which the property owner should have the right to stop their intrusion. Private property rights trump immigration.

Legal immigration and free international trade are a given in an ideal situation where there is no welfare and where government does not regulate every industry to the benefit of their crony insiders.

Libertarians are farther right than republicans...? That is presuming that we have a left right spectrum. Its more complicated than that.

Plus "libertarians believe" is a false starter. Also your statements on free trade and immigration dont mesh with what libertarians have stated for a long time...going back to my Neal Bortz daze.

Man I miss the heck out of Bortz. That man was great, had no filter whatsoever. Kinda wish KLBJ had not replaced his show with Glenn Beck (until recently, I had a big chuckle when they replaced him with C2C AM) when Herman took the show over.

Well, unless we take lessons from Africa and are serious about CONTAINMENT, then we shall suffer the same fate.

Well since nobody seems to be criticizing Vinson for flying across the country, it looks doubtful we will be able to contain it. The hundreds of others in the incubation period are roaming free.

A news report this am says one has been found on a cruise ship, yeah, great idea.

    The story changes every day.

Example: A nurse flew back from Ohio while being symptomatic...and the CDC told her it was okay.

Now: It appears that she was symptomatic WHEN she flew to Ohio.

And country the ship was visiting got it right. She was denied entry.

Sorry bud you're a little inaccurate.

The easy to understand spectrum is left vs right. Or total gov control vs anarchy. All forms of gov fall into the spectrum. Our 2 major parties are fairly left. That's why we have so much taxes and fees.

Boortz is also against illegal immigration including harsh penalties for businesses who employ immigrants illegally. I totally agree. The cheap labor would be from legal immigrants paying their way into our great country.

    Glad we are buds.

    Its not just left/right.

What we really need to hash out is our worldviews. Lay those plain and a lot of this political stuff will make more sense.

As a libertarian I'm perfectly happy with quarantining anybody who possibly has it. To not do so puts other people's right to life at legitimate and imminent risk so therefore I actually view it as a very constitutional thing to do.
Yep. Quarantine is an effective control measure, among others. There have been good examples out there from which we could learn much.

I think you're too far off on your opinion. Libertarians are further right than republicans. They are extremists in the minds of Fox News and MSNBCers consider them a joke or non-issue.

In in a small enough "libertarian" government the gov is too small to interfere with matters of religion or who can marry who. The limited power that they do have would work for the people with only powers that Americans give them.

Border issues? Secure border and trade. Exploiting cheap labor? How is that liberal? Fair trade isn't illegals exploiting our resources.
Salt, like I said at one time I identified with and as a Libertarian, but over the years that have not drifted to to the right and have developed some rather myopic views...aka Rand Paul. I can go with him on his economic views but past that he is way out there. It takes more than small govt, it takes small and less involved in our lives. Hitler started with a VERY small govt. They have drifted from what and where they were in the 60's and I finally let go in the 80's, they are just to far outta state, man..

I don't have any medical knowledge, but really don't understand the whole quarantine them for 21 days thing. From what I've read, 21 days is a guideline, not a hard fast rule.

If they've been exposed, possibly exposed, are at risk, etc. Why not just take some blood and test for Ebola? Do it once a week if necessary, but be proactive instead of waiting on the symptoms to appear.

Tests won't show a positive till symptoms show up from what I understand. Has to have the incubation period to show symptoms, test positive or spread the virus. And its far from a steadfast rule. Some incubate in 2 weeks....a small percentage can even take up to 48 days according to WHO.

Ron Paul wants gov out of the bedroom and other private matters. His basic view is the "your rights end where mine begin" view.

We still talking about Ron Paul? If thats as close to victory as the libertarians can get...

Who is your new leader? Rand Paul? He is still trying to figure out what he publicly believes.

    Mine is Seantor Ted Cruz.

In a perfect world Ron Paul would be my guy.

There's a lot if ground to cover before we get there though. I'd be ecstatic if either Cruz or Rand Paul won the Presidency.

If it's Romney or Christie we might as well give it up. This train wreck is coming and they won't slow it down in time. Might give us a little more time to prepare for the inevitable collapse of the US though.

    Hell in a hand basket.

Where are these Romney fans? Christie fans? In the primary who the hell votes for people like these?

Romney looks like a president and would be better than Christie.

I dont know how much I trust Rand on social issues by Romney or Christie? They would make a potential 3rd party voter out of me in the general.

Either the GOP will get their base excited and out to vote...or we will get another weak candidate under the "big tent" strategy.

I think the real battle will be between Cruz vs Paul. Conservative vs libertarian. I just pray no dirt comes out on either of them as id be happy with either of them...happier with Cruz.

And I concur on that. But I take it a step further:

I do not care, nor do I care to even know who your choice of a mate it. Could be the stump in your back yard or that Bass boat, if you were a 17 yr old kid like me then it had to be that Corvette, or you may wish to be gay or what ever. DNA, does not apply to me.

I am against any govt ruling on marriage. WHY are we letting GOVT make the call. I grew thinking it was between 2 people, man and a woman, still believe that and anything else is wrong, not to say I no longer like you because you married your _______________ (fill in blank), it is none of my business, DON'T MAKE IT MINE, because then you have a problem. So lets get the govt out of it so you and everyone else can pursue what their heart dictates, NOT the govt!

I thought the virus didn't produce symptoms until it had replicated enough to reach a certain threshold? Thought the virus was present well before symptoms showed up, it just wasn't contagious yet.

They may have to look harder for that squiggly line that represents the virus they keep showing on the news if the virus hasn't replicated enough yet, but so what? Look harder.

Or am I not understanding how they do the test?
