Teslas run on AC, the controller converts battery voltage into a higher AC voltage. The drive motors are all AC.They were NOT found of each other for sure. Tesla worked for Edison initially.
The ironic part of a Tesla is it runs on DC, and that's what Edison was pushing for against Tesla's AC.

But it is interesting that Edison Co. continued to supply DC power to elevator services in NYC into the 90s.Well, Edison was pushing for DC for power transmission along power lines, and it was not suited to it - AC is. DC is good for battery power.
