Why not drill the holes before hardening the knife?
I always drill the holes before hardening. The heat treat comes after everything I'm about to do. There's also filework on the spine to do before the hardening, too.

Leave the hammer marks if you can. A little personality is a good thing. I'm not looking for factory perfect, I want something to show a craftsman has made. That might be a weird of saying whatever I was trying to say. Distressed is what I was looking for. Not new from a factory, but a real knife made by a real person.OK, no photo today (sorry) but the surface grinding on the little knife is almost done. One side is smooth, and the second side has only a few stubborn hammer marks left. The touchmark and initial bevels will come next, along with drilling holes for the pins and the lanyard tube.

I had been wondering what you had been up to, or if you had forgotten me. The shape looks good. Imperfections be damned, it's a knife and made to use.
I bought a whetstone to sharp my pocket knife and tips or videos you can recommend?
That is very cool!Ok, today's progress: The Joy of Jimping (or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the File)
I'm...not entirely happy with how it turned out. But the filework is done, and drilling the pin holes, beveling the blade and stamping my touchmark are the next step - starting tomorrow.

It's gonna be sharp...very, very sharp.I forgot about this thread until now. I am NOT a knife expert at all and trying to figure out what that blade is going to be?
So Harbor Freight???Oh, a piece of advice for my friends...don't ever buy files at Home Depot. Their files are utter crap.
