You guys are very fortunate. I used to wear boots but the neuropathy and spinal stenosis messing with nerves in feet have me just appreciating a large pair of houseshoes with cushioned inserts.

In late grade school and high school, I got a new pair of Tony Lamas every year when school started..
They usually lasted till late spring or early summer of the following year.
Less than a hundred dollars back then. But I wore them out before I outgrew them.
Life on the farm/ranch meant working on your feet all day.
I'd love a new pair like those today. Probably last the rest of my life at my current pace.

For my first construction job in high school one summer I had to have steel toe boots. I only wore them a summer. But my dad wore them around the farm for years.

I hated how heavy they were and went back to my Tony Lama’s after that job ended. They looked like hell, but I had them re-soled. My mother in law threw them away during my first year of marriage. I’m still pissed 40 years later.

When I went to work at General Electric in 1994, I had to wear steel toes. They were a necessary requirement until I quit working in 2019. It didn't take long to appreciate the quality of a well made boot.

My Red Wings were well made. I just hated the extra weight. My job required a lot of movement.

My most comfortable boots to work in were Red Wing. On feet all day and climbing poles, were perfect. Give 'em some saddle soap a few times a week could where anywhere.
