Overcomplicated? It's probably damn close or possibly even less complicated than a modern ICE powered car.
There is so much computer shit in cars now.
Obviously, you have never worked on electronic motor drives! DC battery voltage is cut up into pieces and reassembled int 3 phase AC. The electronic complexity is staggering! Just TRY to find a technician who can troubleshoot one!

Yeah most of them are 3-phase now. Some of the older ones are PWM DC. It's not that complicated, tho...

EE students build 3-phase motor controllers in either their jr or sr year. You can get small ones on Amazon for $20-$40. The only real difference between those and ones for EVs are the capacity of the switching transistors.

All the popular brushless power tools you see these days are 3 phase, too. What makes a Tesla complicated is all the garbage they put on top of the basic system. It seriously shouldn't be any more compilated than a Harbor Freight impact driver.

Bullshit, Tesla is not a Texas company, Tesla is a California company that relocated to Texas to benefit itself. A man that puts on a dress is just a man in a dress, not a woman.
    Dont be daft.

Tesla is headquartered in Texas and seems to have embraced Texas values to a HUGE extent, they are Texan.

Many of the best Texans weren't from Texas...

I hear you, no argument here that they now have locations in Texas. Also no argument some great people have relocated to and been great additions to Texas.

We can agree to disagree on them being Texans and not Californian.

Ya sound like one of em old guys hanging round tha bus station...hey kid, I got some candy...

No, the 'best Texans' aren't from elsewhere, but you keep thinking that...

More and more commie-fornians and their ilk keep moving here telling us how it was done back in...fill in the blank-istan state...up yours!

You want to be taken as a gen-you-wine Texan?

Stop trying to tell actual Texans - how to be Texan...commie...

I may have been misinterpreted here. I was not advocating the massive addition of wind and solar. Those who have read my prior thoughts on this topic know this. I was merely trying to point out that taxpayer dollars were misused to prop up and promote an industry. I do not agree with using taxpayer dollars to do this in renewables.

I also disapprove of taxpayer subsidies for EV.
No misinterpretation. I'm totally against wind and solar as power providers. I think both are a massive scam being perpetrated on the American public in many ways.We also the problems of wind generated power during the Texas Ice Age of 2020. I am for responsible use of nuclear powered electrical generation plants. I do believe they are the answer to the power needs of the future. I too disapprove of tax-payer subsidies for wind, solar or EV's.

Agree 100%. I had a solar system installed this year and will NOT be submitting for a credit on my taxes for it. Why? Why the hell should my neighbors, friends (and even Tan-Gym-Laundry) help to pay for MY decision to have solar system on my house.
It's not fair to everyone for them to fund my decision.

I’m not necessarily opposed to solar, but the cost/benefit isn‘t there for me just yet. If the panels had a longer life and energy storage at night wasn’t an additional cost, or if I could sell excess back to the power companies at more than pennies on the dollar, then I would consider it. The way I see it now is I’d front a bulk of the next 20 years of utility payments today in order to get $100-150 month savings. What would that get me if I just invested that initial outlay? I guess in some situations it works, but in the city where power is 100% reliable outside of natural disasters, I could never justify it.

I too am not opposed to solar power, but much of what I'm seeing is a lot of scammers in the installation part of the business making misleading or false information.

You can sell back at the wholesale rate. I sell my excess back at just over 10 cents/kWh.
My electric bill for last month when it was so hot was $31.02. Can I justify the cost of the solar system in cost savings? Hell no! The monthly loan is just about the cost of what my electric bill would be on the highest month usage.
I got it because I froze my ass off last February when my power was out for over 5 days. I want something that I can keep the lights and heat on if SHTF.
I got a system with a Tesla Powerwall backup so it will provide power at night or when cloudy. I didn't get it to save money.

Personally, I would not retro-fit my house with solar panels just based on the initial cost to install the, but IF I were building a new home today, I would seriously consider them, but could then absorb the cost over a thirty year perions or the life of the mortgage.

Put this or any other Classic and a Tesla side by side and watch what happens. Yep Tesla gets ignored and laughed at as they walk by. I won't mention the shit talk. Ask me how I know. Oh yeah this 57 year old car will still be rolling loooooong after that Tesla dies. Factoid!
