It's not going to matter what gun you prefer, if you don't clean it, it won't work. The AR15 and Mp5 have seen constant use in some of the worst environments in the world since their inception.I trained with a MP5, but I also cleaned it, will stick with the AK

Either gun will take whatever you can dish out.
The kp9 is functionally inferior to the MP5 as the kp9 is direct blowback. The delayed blowback action on the MP5 results in a more pleasant recoil impulse, faster follow up shots, and makes for a superior suppressor host.
The MP5 uses a Roller-Lock action bolt, with my experience cleaning it, I wasn't happy with itIt's not going to matter what gun you prefer, if you don't clean it, it won't work. The AR15 and Mp5 have seen constant use in some of the worst environments in the world since their inception.

I'm looking at getting a AK pistol for home defense/ CQC
Which caliber would be better/best ... 9mm or 556
The MKE/Century ones are ok, but if you want to reliably feed JHP's, you need to use HK mags. You can find them on sale for $60-70Are there any decent MP5 clones
get an AR pistol, and use hollow points, 45gr to 75 gr should do the trick.I'm looking at getting a AK pistol for home defense/ CQC
