Haven't read it yet, but given the key words in the link, he hasn't been found guilty, yet. Grand jury doesn't hand down a conviction. Grand juries basically tell the DA that there's enough evidence to make it worthwhile to pursue the case.

Yes, but it's still just an indictment. Rick Perry was indicted on charges that even the liberals are saying are ridiculous. Doesn't take much to get an indictment. Conviction is where the real stuff is at, but my guess is there will be some type of plea deal and this all gets swept under the rug.

While it is true that an indictment is not the same as nor as serious as a conviction, for most of us who have been smart and/or lucky enough to never have been involved in serious legal action, it may seem like an indictment is not much to worry about. I don't know about Louisiana law but in Texas, indictment is where real, life altering consequences can start. Lets just start with the most obvious and relevant consequence, you can no longer carry while under indictment. Besides such direct legal consequences, there is also the reality that a great many people will lose their livelihood if indicted...regardless of the ultimate trial outcome. Indictment is no piece of cake for most people...even more so for those who are truly not guilty. My gut tells me that this guy is guilty though so I am certainly not trying to drum up sympathy for him.
