You see this a lot in Houston. People training Pit Bulls are taking advantage of their natural breeding to be hyper aggressive. But, I have seen it done with other breeds as well. It all comes down to the upbringing and training. You can turn almost any dog mean. The dogs at this point are a danger to society and should be put down.

These dogs, especially Pit Bulls, but other breeds to, can be made vicious and dangerous by their owners and it's the owners that ultimately need to be held accountable.

I love dogs and have owned many in my life and would not have a problem with a Pitt Bull if I got it as a pup. But, if I see a Pit Bull, or any other dog for that matter, coming aggressively at me or mine, I am putting it down, and then I want to know who the owner is.

That is mostly my point. Dogs are bred for different jobs and certain traits, but it's the owners who make them vicious and mean, and it's those owners who should be held accountable for these attacks and deaths.
Not disagreeing, but does that mean parents should be held responsible for their children which kill?

    Sometimes they're just bad.

True, sometimes kids are bad. Can you get a bad dog? Maybe, although I would say rare. I guess it comes down to whether the parents knew it and turned a blind eye or worse, facilitated.

Look at the guardians of that kid who shot up the school in Florida. They knew he had problems, yet they allowed him access to the AR he used to kill. And if I remember correctly, didn't someone in his immediate family buy the AR for him. It's been a while so my memory may be hazy.

...and then there are those pits that ARE raised right with discipline/love/dedication,good food/and lots of excellent training, but something causes them to snap anyway...

This breed can't be depended on to ALWAYS respond in positively good or even great behavior.

Whenever I see one on the loose, I'm immediately on guard.

It's like running across a lion or tiger or some other lethal animal.

Yes, I recognize other dog breeds can and have caused death or injury to humans, but this particular breed seems to lead in the category of killing and maiming human beings...especially children and the elderly.

This was my point exactly. Niether a gun or a dog is dangerius without a careless owner/operator. Period.
I see far more other breeds at dog parks that are way more aggressive than Pits. The owner and how the dog was raised, trained and allowed to act generally plays

Y'all seriously need to calm down and think with your brain instead of your emotions.
And me liberal or a libtard????Seriously???
Y'all need to take your meds.
Y'all are the ones using the libtard argument that is used against scary black AR guns. The features make it more dangerous, not the owner. It has more power than my little one. It just HAS to be more dangerous!!! I heard the same bullshit about Rotts and Dobermans in the 60s and 70s.

There are no dog breeds or firearms that are inherently more dangerous than any other. In the hands of an idiot, they are all dangerous. In the hands of someone that understands them and controls them properly, they are not.
That was the point! The one you all totally missed in your narrow minded thinking.
And all you people could come up with is that I must be a libtard because I did not rationlize your irrational fear???
Give me a damn break. I thought you people were better that. At least some of you anyway. Or was I wrong?

Just like people, the same can be said of any breed of dog. Regardless of teaching, training or nuturing,,, some of them will not play nice with the world.
But that is true of most species. Some just seem to be born with a desire to be as vicious as they can.

Can't speak for others - but I don't think you're a libtard by any stretch of the imagination.

That said, your statement of : "... Niether a gun or a dog is dangerius without a careless owner/operator. Period." I disagree with strongly.

A gun, any gun, laying on a bench, does not have the ability to rise up and shoot without an owner/operator.

A dog, any dog, does have the ability to rise up - without an owner/operator.

That is a difference, a BIG difference.

    But opinions vary; that's mine.

“… the Pit Bull is still responsible for the most fatal attacks in the U.S. by far, killing 284 people over that 13-year period - 66 percent of total fatalities. That's despite the breed accounting for just 6.5% of the total U.S. dog population. There is evidence to suggest that owners of vicious dogs are far more likely to have criminal convictions for violent crimes which may go some way towards explaining the Pit Bull’s disproportionate rate of fatal attacks.”

You might want to do your research on the sig p320. Apparently it does have the ability to shoot without owner operator.

Well..yeah..you kinda did - after he said an operator 'allowed' the gun to fire, like giving the gun permission to do something on it's own...

Regardless of the breed of the dog, if it attacks, it is because a neglegent owner (handler) allowed it to.
Pretty much like a gun. If the gun in your hand kills someone, it is because the negligent owner (operator) allowed it to.

    your reply -
Wow, I had no idea guns were living creatures with brains and could decide to attack on their own.

Wait, that sounds just like a leftist talking point…

imo kids are worse!i'd say it's much more likely to have a bad dog owner than a bad dog and blaming a dog breed is just as asinine as people blaming gunsfor killing people

Some like to shout when they come across an opinion they don't like.

    Conclusion: Stop shouting.

When/If we don't agree, let it go.

You have your opinion...I have mine...perhaps we disagree, but I won't chastise you whoever you may be...well, maybe a little...but, I won't shout about it.

I don't trust 'pits' - raised right or wrong.

    That's my opinion...don't like it?

OK, I'll bet we probably agree on most everything else like important things like beer preferences or ice cream.

I like lager beer of almost any mfg and butter pecan ice cream.
