Prepping some 6mm creedmoor cases, got them in the tumbler now. Gonna load them up with some H4350 and 115 grain coated DTAC’s. Leaving for South Texas early Thursday for a couple days of hunting, drinking, shooting, and telling lies! At least one day, between hunts, we all try to out shoot each other, and I’m hoping my new 6mm bullet slanger will hold its own!

Curious on you combo. Brass, charge coal etc and results once you get it dialed in. I bought a 500 ct box of these and haven’t been able to test past 100 yards yet. With the Nosler 115 RDF I was doing something like 40.2 gr and 2.760 in Peterson brass got me a 3.5” 5 shot group at 500.

Have not grouped past 100. Went to American Shooting Center last Wednesday, but it was so wet they wouldn’t allow vehicles to drive on the range, and unless you had high rubber boots, walking down to put targets up at 300 wasn’t an option either. Did shoot at their steel targets (4”” and 6”” plates) at 400-600 yards. Targets were shot up pretty good and I couldn’t repaint them, so I’m not sure exactly where they were hitting, but after I figured out my DOPE, I rang steel every time. I’m at 40.7 grains of H4350 in LRP Nosler brass. 2.78” OAL, and it chrono’d at 2950. I was testing the EC tuner brake the day I shot at 100 over the chronograph, and I was getting consistent 1/2”-3/4” groups.

I started to change out boxes of new bullets and put them in older 1's, so the price looks better. I'm doing this in all of the reloading components. My wife thinks none the other as she has no clue :spank:

Put a new counter top on my bench. Old one was in bad shape. Have 100 pieces of 6.5 brass in the tumbler. Need to replenish my plinking stash. Going through some 6mm creedmoor “pull down” primed brass I got from American Reloading. $50 for 100 was a pretty good deal, so I ordered 200 pieces. So far it’s all Remington LRP.

Been neck turning brass. I finished a batch that was all hornady and it went pretty smooth. Started a batch of nosler 6.5cm brass and they are all over the place. I thought nosler was supposed to be up there in quality.

Put a new scope on my hunting rifle (Remington 141 in 35 Remington) Monday, sent about a dozen rounds through it, first sighting in the scope and seen how the different ammos performed (Remington/ hornady/ Winchester/ federal). After about four shots, my shoulder really was hurting and it was very unpleasant shooting the rifle. Took a sweater and folded it up for four times as a pad for my shoulder for future shots.

Got me thinking about what is entailed with developing a load for this rifle.

Neck turned another batch of brass. This time norma 6.5cm brass trimmed to 8.6blk. I learned to put a little lube on the pilot to help keep it from galling and screwing up the brass. Only have 1 batch of mixed 308 brass left to turn and I'll be done with this project.

Went and did a little “group” therapy at the range this morning. Shot some 6mm creedmoor, Hornady 109 ELD-Match with IMR4350 and 115 DTAC’s with H4350. Both bullets shot well. All the groups hovered right around 1/2”. Guy next to me was actually shooting an old 6mm Remington. He was trying to shoot Hornady 105 grain HPBT’s out of it, but he wasn’t getting very good results. Im guessing his 1:9 twist wouldn’t stabilize them. Beautiful old rifle!

Most 8 twists are marginally stable per the twist rate calculator for most 105 bullets. One other issue is depending upon year and brand of the rifle it could have had an even slower twist. When it was originally introduced the 6mm rem was called the the 244 and marketed towards more the varmint bullet crowd. Typically if it is stamped 6mm they are a 9 twist but it is one of the ones I would test myself just to be sure.

I bought some primed pull down 6mm creedmoor cases from American Reloading a couple weeks ago. I have never used primed pull down cases before, but these were $48 per 100, so I took a shot. Wasn’t sure if I was gonna knock out the primers (Remington) anneal and full length resize before I used them, or what I was gonna do. All the cases were in good shape, still had great neck tension, headspace was good, and they all chambered in my rifle without issue. So I decided to take 10 of them, chamfer and debur the case mouths, drop a powder charge in, and seat a bullet. Shot 2 groups of 115 DTAC’s with H4350. Both groups under 1/2”. Should have taken the chrono out too, but I wasn’t expecting great results, so I didn’t bother. Every time I do a test like this, it really makes me wonder why I spend so much time on brass prep!

Yesterday, I did some testing with my TC contender, 22 hornet and Lil Gun powder. I had done some research and got a lot of conflicting answers. My TC loading manual shows 12-13 grains of lil gun using a 55 grain bullet.

I got some feedback that 55 gr. is too heavy . Plus in looking at the hornady website, it shows 12- 13 grains for almost every bullet weight. An most powders are pushing the 55 grain at 2100 fps or so. But they show the Lil Gun way above the rest at 2500 fps.

And I got feedback from someone who said they see pressure signs with around 12 grs. So I reloaded some more, from 11.0 -11.8. Thinking I would not even shoot the 12-13 gr.

But at the range, I got some readings , but still learning my chrony. Got a lot of errors, I believe it was due to lighting conditions. Anyway, seemed to have a good node at 11.2 and 11.4 gr. With these , just a little over 2500 fps. AWESOME.

After the I had some more issues, but did get a reading at around 12.2 gr, 2400 fps. I ended up cautiously shooting all the way to 13.0 gr. and didn't see any pressure issues.

But I am very happy with the 11.2 and 11.4 velocities. My next step will be to load up some at 11.3 gr. and start experimenting with seating depth. These 55 grains have a cannelure, so I don't really know if I will deviate much from seating in the cannelure.

By the way, the TC barrel is the 14 inch barrel, and very moderate in recoil. This might end up being my favorite barrel. I also have 22 mag, 7 TCU , and 7x30 Waters.

Sorry, for the long read, but wanted to share.
