I appreciate your civility and respect where you are coming from. What I will say is my main gripe with the confederacy is not “slavery” “racism” etc the typical left wing arguments. My main gripe is I find the mere act of secession to be treasonous and worthy of execution.
You mean like, Jefferson, Washington, Hamilton and so on with regards to their treasonous secession from the King and England?

The young man is woefully ignorant on the subject of the Civil War. His only education being the Lincoln Cult historians whose writings are taught in our current education system.

If he knew the true facts............. he would be saying Lincoln was the traitor to the Constitution.......

Before they "United" each state was its own sovereign nation state. "We the people do ordain and establish" implies the right to disordain and dis-establish. There is nothing in the Constitution which compels a state to remain part of the union. If, it could be argued that the tenth Ammendment leaves that to the states.

Also, Robert E. Lee is the only west point cadet to ever be honored by having his name permanently removed from the USMA demerit roll. He also served as the academy superintendent.

Keep in mind that before WW1 most Americans primary allegiance was to their state.

My principal is loyalty to the us federal government, not an unelected crown

We owe no "loyalty" to the government.

Everything this country is founded on is the idea that the gov't will eventually become corrupt. It will restrict rights. It will needlessly tax, it will kill, murder, rape its way into, or to maintain its power.

That is why there is a document that outlines things the gov't CANNOT TOUCH.

Freedom of speech, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to not house troops, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, freedom from self incrimination, etc etc.

The government is not principled, the concepts behind and within our founding documents are what you should adhere to. The creators of our founding documents, while imperfect strove to create what is best for all, not the few. Our system of government has devolved into a tyrannical state monstrosity, it is no longer a government of the people, for the people, by the people. It is now driven by power mad, micro-dictators.
Secession, even civil war, may need to occur to redress the wrongs being visited upon the citizens, by those who favor non-citizens. An entity akin to what our government has become must and needs to brought back under control. We draw close to the opening of the last box, the blood of tyrants may yet flow, and The Tree of Liberty may yet quench her thirst for the blood of those tyrants.

There is no requirement or oath of office that requires anyone to defend the government in this country. Most if not all oaths office do require the defense of the Constitution against all enemies.

It is to the constitution that your loyalty should be. If you think about it, your loyalty is first the Constitution then the country.

Having loyalty to government is what liberals tend to do. The government gives you nothing and can only take either from you or someone else.

The Constitution is what protects us from the government. That and all those guns lost in all those boating accidents.

"There are 4 boxes our liberty is based on, the Soap Box, the Ballot Box, the Jury Box, and the Cartridge box."

The Founding Fathers didn't fight against the most powerful military in the world, and tailor fit our system of laws based on that experience, just so you could blindly support the government op.
