Someone's finally going balls to the wall with carry rights in Texas. That alone is a step in the right direction.

Now- how will this relate to the prohibition on carrying in a school zone without a license? Will the license be implied? I live literally directly behind a school so this is kinda something I don't wanna be hazy about.

Sketchy in my mind. Federal laws.

I like the bill. I have no idea whether the all-or-nothing approach will work.

This bill doesn't abolish the Concealed Handgun License program; it merely removes the requirement to possess a Concealed Handgun License while carrying a concealed handgun in Texas. As I read the bill, the program would still exist. If you have business near a school, if you want to have reciprocity during travel, and if you like the exemption from federal background check, I believe you'll still be able to maintain a Texas CHL.

As always, however, there's a good chance I'm completely wrong.

Also, this bill would remove "illegal knife" and "club" from PC 46.02 Unlawful Carrying Weapon.

I see this as a good thing, as well. It would be silly for a person to be able to carry a firearm without a license while a baton remains illegal. Additionally, while I would rather run from a fight most of the time, being able to legally carry a less lethal weapon legally would be a good idea.

I see a few CHL instructors already throwing a bit of a hissy fit over Constitutional Carry. I understand they are a small business and will lose out. But in the same thought process, why should someone need to be trained by a CHL instructor on the safe usage and laws of carrying a firearm?
Shouldn't a father be passing that along to his children? I know I did to my boys early on. My father did to me. It's just a natural thing to do. If I had daughters, I would have done the same.
