The compressor runs the same whether the fan is on high or low. If that little AC light is on, the compressor is turned on.

If your gonna be a smart ass, try to know what your talking about.

Nice that you use such a credible source as "yahoo answers". Almost as foolproof as Wikipedia.

To add on to YG, the compressor is controlled by the engine speed via a belt and pulleys. Car A/C is not set-point-governed. It will run the same in a black car as a white one, despite what you set the temp at.

Guys I think he was trying to point out that a black car will absorb more heat than the white one and thus be warmer inside. This will cause the occupant to require more processing of the air to keep a comfortable temperature level. Thus less cooling is needed to maintain the same temp in a white car as opposed to a black colored one. However in Texas summers, probably be running both of them all of the time anyway, one on high just a bit longer.

This is a multi-faceted issue. Two toned cars (black and white) are encouraged by Homeland security. Money incentives are available to agencies who adopt this universal color scheme.

Two tone used to be normal in Texas. We ran brown/tan cars for many years. We went away from this as a cost saving measure. Ordering a car in Brown and having the doors painted tan added $300-400/car. Reflective graphics made police car identification easy w/o added paint cost.

We are transitioning from gold Crown Vics w/reflective graphics to gray (2012) or silver (2013) Tahoes.

We have silver Chargers with reflective graphics for highway enforcement. Our DWI and K-9 units run subdued graphic cars for "stealth". We have very few stealth units.

You cannot make a case for Evading Arrest if you are driving a stealth car.

The neighboring County to the North is going to black and white, but the Sheriff is former DPS and has a natural attraction to such a color scheme. Round Rock PD has several units that are all black with white graphics. They still look strange to me.

As far as uniforms go, DHS gives money to defray the cost of uniform upgrades. Agencies are encouraged to change the look every few years to make it more difficult for would be terrorists to obtain a uniform and infiltrate a location.

Darker colors, black and midnight blue are becoming preferred for a number of reasons. "Black is slimming". "Black is tactical" (whatever that means). Black is intimidating. We have black pants and tan shirts. Our next change will probably be to gray over black.

Rights are inalienable. They come from your fundamental ownership of yourself. Rights exist whether a particular sociopolitical structure recognizes them or not. A government cannot provide rights.

OK, then by what authority do your rights come from? Natural law? If so, then how is that enforced? Enlighten me on our thoughts on this concept...

Read the Declaration. Governments are "instituted among men" for the purpose of protecting our rights (which we already have). It works when we are governed by our peers, not ruled by our "betters". The Founders essentially rejected a model of government where rights were decreed on us from London. As it states, we are "endowed by our Creator" with unalienable rights.

Your rights are endowed by your creator, wether you believe that is God, Allah, or green space monkeys. The government grants none of them, they exist merely to protect them. This is where our particular government is failing.

"Which is better - to be ruled by one tyrant three thousand miles away or by three thousand tyrants one mile away?"

Governments certainly do not give us our rights... but they can make it damned difficult to keep them.
