Why did you upgrade? I only upgrade when there is a very compelling reason to do so. Don't see it with 8.1. Hell, when I first got the laptop we have running 8.0 I wanted to downgrade it to 7, but I got lazy.

Windows 7 IS an upgrade from windows 8. Seriously. Win 7 computers sell for more than ones with win 8. Hell, win95 isbetter than 8. That system is one of the worst products I have ever seen anywhere.

Windows 8 runs better with less resources and power but the metro multiple ui thing was dumb. That can be remedied very easily though.

    I've done thousands of hours of tech work, on W2K, XP, 7, 8, and 8.1. I prefer 7, haven't tried 10 yet.

No, not the final version. You can try it now for free and contribute to testing if you want.

Yes, the final version. Per M$, everybody with a valid 7, 8, or 8.1 COA will be eligible for a free upgrade to 10 for 1 year after release.

I gave it a try today and prefer Win 7. One issue I had is that it doesn't have Windows Media Center which I like because it works well with my USB TV tuner and because it has a built in TV Guide that I like.

Hopefully the final version of Win 10 will have Windows Media Center and Synergy will be updated.

Media Center was dropped because M$ discovered next to nobody actually used it! Have you tried XBMC?

I hate Win 8.1 with a passion. Its a RAM eating hog. It was using 1-2 GB more than my Win 7 Pro was using, even with no programs running except the essentials. Im back on Win 7 Pro.

I never had a problem with Win 8.1 but I always wondered why my new Gateway PC was so damned slow. That computer crashed (probably poor electrical power issue) so I had to replace it. The used machine I bought with Win 7 runs circles around that brand new Gateway I had with Win 8.1. I don't know if this is due to differences in the OS but the speed difference is like night and day. Like I stated, I never had a serious problem with Win 8.1 (that I'm aware of) but I HATED the GUI. I recently tried Win 10 and I don't like it much better than Win 8.1 so I reverted back to Win 7.
