Damn. Gonna be a tough decision.

Lots of gravel and dirt so I can see 4wd helping with control, and 2wd being fun for sliding and wheelies.

Several times it was stuck or nearly stuck on it's side, all I had to do was turn the wheels and add power and it righted. 2wd can't do that. It's only logical to get one of each.

I can't beleive I just made a Star Trek refference

I ran the truck on the street and through a reasonably freshly cut practice football field today, it was kickass in the field! I tried to work the Tx one handed and video it to no avail. You really missed out. :p

Yea, those things are right at home in the dirt or grass. You should look into local hobby shops that might have tracks you can go goof off on.

    What do you have?
Cool truck! I had a T-Maxx about 10 years back... I remember it being fun and a maintenance nightmare...

I looked at them but my kids are too small to control them and I'd get bored just driving around by myself.

    I'll play...

won this in a contest from a tire shop, HPI E10 Drift, Falken Edition, back in 2013
    001c.jpg

Decided against selling it, and drove it a few times before shelving it.

One of my kids started watching RC cars on YouTube so I dusted it off, but couldn't get it to run
Figured it was the battery, upgraded to lipo 2s 5200 mah, and a Flysky Gt3b RxTx for good measure. Added lights and bashed the daylights out of it, eventually cracked the chassis right in half...

New chassis, tires/wheels, flipped the drivetrain for touring (rear-motor), and a new DeltaPlastik bodyshell with 2 sets of lights.
    Just finished the body yesterday.
Didn't prep the Lexan, so the flake didn't lay very consistent. Stripes are a bit slanted and my front bodypost holes are off-center... but she doesn't rub or bind anywhere.

One day I may go brushless 3s... I dunno. Touring is much more predictable and right now more fun than drifting.

Santa is bringing one my kids the ECX Ruckus 4wd brushed. I've done enough research to know it's just as good as the Traxxas Stampede, for $100 less.
It'll get 2s lipo right out of the box, and probably my GT3B. He'll learn on that, and we'll eventually go brushless.... 4s?

Running 2s lipo on my traxxas slash's and unless you have lots of room to runout 3s+ is nutz

Who did you get the LETdS from?
amazon, about $6 set. LED lightbars are expensive though, $20+.... hell that's almost as much as chinese light bars for real trucks

you do need to have a spare channel. for this body, i had to splice both sets into 1 harness for my 3rd channel.
they are always on. you can get a transmitter activated switch, but at $14 from tenergy, always on will do.
