Cedar Springs has an annual block party for halloween. There are some super sexy women that go, but there are also things that will burn images into your head. I've been twice, once to party with some friends, once to meet a girl.....it's definitely an experience

Cafe Madrid down in that area is greatness. Too bad they stopped serving lunch. Best tapas I've had, and the Sangria is dang good.

It's always a toss up.. I have always lived near work if possible. Beltline Road.. start in Coppell at 635 and go south on Beltline..there .. that area may have both the price and condition you are looking for. Quality drops the further south you go but you'd then be able to run Beltline into Irving on your commute.
