Dose anyone know which stamps and marks can be filled in? My saiga 12 is COVERED with stamps and marks. I am going to weld up the open holes from from its recent pistol grip conversion, so I might as well fill in the stamps and make it look a little nicer. So which ones have to stay and which can go?

    DMC,

Please do not remove or alter any stampings or numbers on gun receivers. The BATF requires most of these stampings when importing a gun, so if you remove the wrong one, you may be get your self into alot of trouble.

The only marking legally required is the serial number.

Since the gun has already been imported, any other markings are legally irrelevant.

Best idea is to write a precisely worded letter and send it to the local branch. Straight from the horse's mouth.

And you can write one next month and get a wholly different answer.

The law says you can't deface or remove a serial number.

The law doesn't say bupkus about any other markings.
