IN SIXTY YEARS GING AROUNTHIS WORLD I HAVE ONLY LOST A VERY FEW KNIVES!
I don't lose knives, but when I do, it's because I dropped them in the lake.

    ’’Losing Knives’’

Of course, being GrandPa, everyone knows that I always carry at least 2 knives; most days it is a big SpyderCo & a tiny Boker; depends on what I plan for the day. Hunting, a Jimmy Lile & a Gerber.

But, b/c everyone knows, they are constantly ‘’borrowing’’ but careless.

If I use a knife, it is immediately cleaned & returned to carry place.

Others will use one, they lay it down ‘’somewhere’’, thus the ‘’losses’’.

Sometimes I actually find lost knives, both mine & others’. Last I recall was a nice ‘’Cold Steel Tanto’’ folder in a rental truck, just like new.

I have mellowed to see this as a type of philanthropy, as most would never have a ‘’good’’ knife otherwise. . . . .

So we should support companies that manufacture products in China???
    <>

Pretty hard to avoid for ‘’everyday’’ knives these days.

As the late Alan Ladd once said in a movie: ‘’A gun is a TOOL’’.

Tiens, a knife is even more of a tool for most of us. . . . . .

I checked, only one of mine says ‘’CHINA’’ !

Even the vaunted ‘’Zeiss Optik’’ now has most of its rifle ‘scopes ‘’Made in Japan’’

Just asking as a group if our collective outrage has faded any in the 4 years since the company was shown to be assisting the Oregon City PD to cut up some long guns so they would fit into a shipping box that they were sending to a 3rd party contractor the PD uses for evidence destruction.
Here a link to the story, in case you forgot

When I heard it, I owned about 4 Benchmade knives at the time.
Since then I have sold or traded off all but 1 of my favorite flippers

My birthday was in March and my daughter got me a gift certificate to House of Blades in FW.

I was looking at the Benchmades again..damn tempting.. but that nagging thing they did still fester inside me..although not near as strong as it once was.

Over the years we have had plenty to be pissed off about.

There isn't a vehicle made today that you are driving that the company hasn't donated or supported something you are against. Gay bullshit..trans..donating to Democratic causes..

Remember the whole thing about Black Rifle Coffee hiring an executive that donated to Biden/Obama? Yeah..don't forget that one..

And now we have Bud Light to add.

Anyway, if a member here were to buy a Benchmade would they get permanent ban? Or could a GOA donation offset that infraction?

It's hard to keep track of everything to be mad at at!
    Oh no, not Benchmade!

Praytell, WHY should I be “mad” at Benchmade ?

    Knives are TOOLS.

I get my similar quality tools at much better prices elsewhere.

So, i just don’t partonize that company.

i actually USE my knives; and, as an ex-Surgeon, I am very familiar with cutting tools.

I do not see a “paid-too-much-for” pocketknife as any “status symbol”, but a fetish.

My knives are Boker, CRKT, Gerber, etc. They function very well & give value, Thank You.
