Good deal. Whats the Marksmanship course?
Remember, as my 8 year old daughter exclaimed after shooting her first pistol "got anything bigger?" Why yes, yes we do!
Thank you for so much info zinc warrior! I'll need time to digest it all. I already do dry fire but not enough.
I'm finished with that challenge, but in it you could rest in between the five shots if you wanted.
Thanks easy rider!
Hey Moonpie! Thanks! And, wow, everyone around the county sure is talking about the indoor range in Richwood. Have not tried it yet, we have been gone on vacation last couple of weeks. I'm sure we will give it a try eventually.
I can't figure why you seem so bummed. You seem to be doing pretty good. Just because you are not progressing as fast as you might think you should doesn't mean you are doing bad. And you seem to be progressing faster than a lot of folks. Even the guys.
Nobody is good all the time. NOBODY.
I know... I need to get my spirits up. I can just watch out for my expectations to make sure they are not unreasonable. I have that problem a lot in lots of aspects of life.
The kids once asked me what I wanted them to be when they grew up. My answer, a little better the next day than the day before. That is a realistic expectation of yourself or anyone else. You won't always make it, but it is realistic and acheivable.
It turns out when I don't completely tense up and hold my breath when I shoot, I actually get shot success closer to my intended targets.
Who knew?!
Being relaxed and comfortable is a big deal for my accuracy, turns out. Now just to learn how to loosen up; not my strong suit. In theory, I know relaxation strategies...it's just applying them. Probably should review the funny photo from the last page, huh?
Other factors that helped me relax and improve: I also think that my eyes focused better in the evening light, I was more comfortable with in the ear plugs vs a headset style, and I was dressed cooler today in a tank top, so not feeling so hot and edgy.
I also got help on improving a tighter "coming back to the reset."
Instructor also changed out my magazine base plates with Vickers and got rid of the Pearce ones thank goodness. I like the extra grip purchase on the Vickers A LOT.
Also note, you're shooting in that pic with a CC pistol with what a 3.5in barrel? Anything beyond about 15 yards is going to be extremely problematic. You can only work as well as the tools you have.
Yes! This is why shooting competition with this would be a waste of ammo and an exercise in frustration. I am lightening the trigger on a Glock 34 for this purpose.
I'm pretty close to getting the 34 ready to shoot competition. I feel like it will be a better confidence booster to actually hear the pings as far as steel challenge. IDPA will be a whole another new thing, but I'm not too intimidated to just start for the fun of it. I'm okay with getting there "soon." Being a mom that homeschools and works too, I'm pretty busy, and pretty proud that I go shooting on my own (without the kids or hubs) as often as I do.
Husband and I each shot the .22 M&P 15-22 in a match for fun last month, and that was my second Steel Challenge match with the little rifle. That's easy on the wallet as far as ammo too (especially since we no joke have over 30,000 rounds of .22 hoarded since the shortage was during when I had two kids shooting matches on the regular and we needed it... I was the dutiful momma who stood in line for hours at Academy after I scouted when the trucks came in).
I tried to get to both the girl and a gun league and my women's Pearland class and no dice yet due to after Hurricane chaos. But I'll be ready for the next meetings! So for now, dry fire it is.
