Well to be frank, I am not sure I would piss on PD if he was on fire.....yet. The good news is he is not on the spreadsheet......yet.

I'd love to know what triggers audits. Not because I look to gain anything from it, but I find the process interesting from a data standpoint. I've never gone through one myself, but I'm pretty sure it'd be boring and easy for the auditor to reconcile.

Businesses, even home businesses are audited more frequently than individual taxes from my understanding.

To put it in oversimplified terms, the selection criteria are:
    • DIF score.
      • The Discriminant Function score for any tax return is higher the more it statistically varies from the baseline for income and a few other basic characteristics. These returns get a quick look by a specialist who returns most of them to the files and sends a minority along for possible audit. Before an audit is opened, they'll likely be screened a couple of more times.
    • TCMP inclusion.
      • The Taxpayer Compliance Measurement Program selects a large number of returns at random. They are subjected to a line-by-line audit that verifies every little thing. The data generated is used to update the way DIF scores are determined. Know that if you go into the office and your case file is in a green jacket, you're screwed. (The TCMP program was re-named a few years ago. Now it's the National Research Program and I don't even know if they still use green folders. Still, I'm providing information based on my prior experience that, while out of date, should be helpful.)
    • History.
      • Entities with a history of non-compliance are pulled for audit more frequently. If you've been audited once and you wound up owing money, your chance of being selected again goes way up. Whole industries can fall into this category.
    • Reports.
      • If someone turns you in and provides a decent reason for doing so, you'll be audited.
    • Chance.
      • There are always a few audits that are based purely on random selection.
The IRS web site goes into a little less detail. For example, the Small Business/Self Employed section describes audit selection criteria this way:
    • Random selection and computer screening - sometimes returns are selected based solely on a statistical formula. We compare your tax return against “norms” for similar returns. We develop these “norms” from audits of a statistically valid random sample of returns, as part of the National Research Program the IRS conducts. The IRS uses this program to update return selection information.
    • Related examinations – we may select your returns when they involve issues or transactions with other taxpayers, such as business partners or investors, whose returns were selected for audit.
Does this give you sufficient insight into the processes?

Do you mean the shut down is not exactly over or that Trump did not exactly back down?

The news conference I watched stated the shutdown was over for 3 weeks.
His last sentence was something to the effect that if they couldn't work out shit with the wall, then he would use his "power" to get it done, can't expand on that any further.

The government shut down is over. Trump backed down.
That is what I thought too but as ZRX said, not exactly. Levin made a good point tonight on his show. When DT gives up on the wall and embraces amnesty, he will call him on it but that ain't what happened. Levin stated the emergency executove order has been used 43X since inception in 1976

Meanwhile the left is saying he caved just like you are. You should never try to negotiate with evil. You lose every time. Then again, the media will villify him whatever he does.
