Should have unleashed the attack ducks.
Oh yeah, he also asked why I had ducks, but this was already after he called me a lair so I didn't even answer him. When I didn't immediately respond he said all angrily "I bet you sell the eggs, hmm?"

I don't think any of this really had anything to do with the yard. If it was just the yard he should have been satisfied when I apologized for it and said I would cut it. He was trying to pick a fight for some reason.

Were I ever moved to comment on the state of my neighbors yard, it would be to compliment it or say nothing.

I had a neighbor who spent zero dollars for house maintenance. No paint, no nothing.

He was so lazy he let a big fire ant nest build up against his house without ever doing anything about it.

Along with his bringing my property value down combined with Hurricane Katrina refugees flooding my area and breaking into cars and homes, we sold our house and moved into the country.

Now, I live in an area filled with great neighbors who aren't close as we all have acreage and love shooting.

All of us shoot (quite safely I might add) in our back yards when the spirit moves us.

No one complains about noise either.

    Good neighbors are a treasure.

You should've taken pics of your yard pre-manicure. I want to see just how bad (or not bad) it really was lol
It was pretty bad, but I don't think it's even the worst yard on our street. A few of the weeds were knee high. It had just rained for four days in a row and I'm sure you know how fast they'll grow in conditions like that.

LoL. I kinda figured he was in the unit, just couldn't resist the obvious. :green:

My wife has a dozen ictures of the guy sitting slumped over drunk in his plastic lawn chair in the garage. He had a little breakfast table, red checkered table cloth, a table lamp, TV on the wall, a stereo system, all kinds of kitchen crap all in this one stall of the garage. He would sit out there for hours, like 10 - 12 hours drinking, yelling on the phone, screaming at all kinds of things, mostly at the TV, etc. This went on for over a year.

Finally she divorced him, got a restraining order, he shows up to get some stuff and attacks the daughter who was in the house. Cops called, he runs around the house, they tackle him and use there toys to force him to "comply" lol, he comes out all fucked up and high on whatever. After that they put him in some halfway house than after he was released he went to live with his sister in Alabama. A few months later he popped himself.

My only issue about lawns is that, at the Houston house, I get leery if the back yard gets long, as it attracts snakes. Don't need that.

Yesterday morning, I looked out into my back yard and saw one the fattest, longest Cottonmouth's I've ever seen slowly crossing the lawn. So yes, there's a practical reason for keeping your lawn mowed.

This. We used to have 20+ acres of undeveloped land behind us. Not a lot of snakes (they preferred the undeveloped land). Now that they're developing it, my unkempt neighbor's yard is probably their home (includes safety and snake food, I'd bet).

Along with his bringing my property value down combined with Hurricane Katrina refugees flooding my area and breaking into cars and homes, we sold our house and moved into the country.

We're investing in trees along the side of our house for exactly this purpose... the house next door isn't the prettiest.

In Houston, weeds can get knee high in just a few days. It is not uncommon to see yards lose it for a few weeks and become absolute jungles, because-as you note-it rains for a week at a time.

I never ever cared about my neighbor's yard, only that he didn't mess with mine, or park in front of it (or play loud music).

Seriously though, was he drunk or on drugs when this conversation occurred? It screams like the leadin for the evening news starting with "neighbors called police when they saw one man beating another with his shovel while screaming "how do like my hair now?!?!"

Was he trying to commit suicide, or did he just want some duck eggs?
