The best slam I ever hear was from a retired Air Force dude.... He was 70 something years old and had been Army Air Corps.
He had his "Retired Air Force" hat on, I told him I am a former Marine and we had a few hits back and forth.....
He then rattles off....... "I tried to join the Marines but they wouldn't let me....because my Mom and Dad knew each other!"
That was the best one I had ever heard. His wife then jabbed him in the ribs and told him not to tell that one anymore.....
    That was funny!

OF COURSE they knew each other, they were brother and sister!!!

The big thing for me, being in the Army, I guess I never understood why we had to "simplify" everthing for the Marines.

All joking aside. I was deployed out as a pipeline specialist in 1983 to support a Marine Corp Group in Beruit. I became best friends with many Marines during my 10 months there. You talk about a group of guys that will do anything for you, anytime, anywhere! I can not ever say enough to do justice for those young men. The saying til this day "They Came in Peace".

Most people could never think of a Marine as showing up in peace, but those Marines did not have a bad bone in their body. They would give you the last drop of water from their canteen.

The correct terminology now and days is "break it down barney style"

I could say the same about Soldiers I've worked with and know personally. And the joking is fine when it's amongst people who have worn the uniform, I however will not put up with someone who has never served "bad mouthing" the military. One of my first experiences on TGT was TR giving me some flack for being a Marine:

New to the forum, here in the NE San Antonio area stopping in and saying hey.

A leatherneck - just in time, welcome aboard!

Us squids are tired of havin' ta polish our own shoes.....

    <g,d&rlh>

I can tell we're gonna have some fun here lol, we're new to SA originally from the Corpus Christi area and have been living out in komifornia at Camp Pendleton so it would be great to get some info on good ranges and shops here, always interested in new shooting buddies as well. As for your shoes I understand you want the job done right the first time but don't you think it's about time you learn to do it yourself?

Why - are we runnin' outta Marines?!??<worried look> View attachment 13795

An' thanks for takin' it in the way intended!

I like Dietz - Bexar Community Range is decent as well. Superb gun show at the Freeman Coliseum this weekend - ya ought to plan to make it.

Welcome ta shoot any time, as long as you understand that God made 1911's - and the Air Farce made Glocks!

No but only did it in the first place to say thanks for the rides but since I'm no longer using your taxi service I feel I must let you leave the nest sometime. And of course, any serviceman who takes offense to good hearted rivalry from another must not have ever served in any real capacity with any other branch, get into it with my Sailor grandfather all the time. And you can rest assured I am packing a 1911, don't much care for polymer pistols.

    Never mess with a Marine!

An army 2Lt. is taking his platoon on patrol when his scouts come running back and say
"Sir, there's a Marine standing in the way of the road".
The Lt. scoffs and sends a fire team to go investigate and remove the Marine.
They approach the Marine and he begins to head for a small ridge
on the side of the road and motions for them to follow.
As the rest of the platoon advances and takes cover they hear yelling and screaming.
The Marine emerges a couple minutes later and dusts himself off
and again stands in the middle of the road.
The Lt. curses and calls for a squad to remove the Devil Dog.
He again heads down to s small ridge and they follow.
Once again there is blood-curdling screaming and weeping.
And AGAIN the Marine emerges and dusts himself off.
Bewildered and pissed off, the Lt. sends all but his platoon Sgt. down and says
"Eliminate the motherfu**er". They run towards him and again follow him to the ridge.
The screaming begins again and suddenly a specialist comes running up,
bloody, his cammies all mangled. The Lt. is in shock and says
"What the hell is going on out there soldier?"
Gasping for breath the soldier replies,
"Its a trick sir!! There's two of em."
