In the last 48 hours AMMO prices have been dropping significantly and at first I grabbed 2,000 rounds of 9MM and 1,000 rounds of .223 but the deals keep coming. I'm going to step back and see how low they go. So far I was able to purchase Remington and Winchester .223 for .25 cents a round and 9MM for .20 cents a round shipped. The deal I got is over but new deals are appearing and I'm wondering if this is because we are pulling out of Iraq and if that means that AMMO will go back down to the early 2000 days.

I'm not sure it's just been in the last 48 hrs. They have dropped big-time over the last 2 years. I think you're right on the mil-surp ammo. Federal owns lake city so all the XM193 and M855 stuff is taking a hit. Winchester probably has a military contract loading .223 and 9mm nato. You also have to look at how terrible world economies have been the last few years. Academys Monarch brass cased ammo(by PRVI in Serbia)as well as S&B(czech) have been falling steadily for a while now. Combine that with a lesser military demand and I think that's how you get where we're at. I hope the surplus grows ! Maybe my reloading arm will get a break soon!

Welcome to the forum! I think it's because of the troop reduction overseas, but that's just my opinion.

I got 500 rnds of .45 for $100 at a pawn shop!!!! They originally had the boxes marked $14.99, but they were $10 a box when I was there. Yea, I bought all 10 boxes and I made them fit in my motorcycle luggage for the 3 hour ride home. LOL

Prices can keep falling for all I care. I have no 7.62x39 so that's my next big buy. I will be needing some 5.56/.223 soon and some more .45 or 9mm wont hurt.

My math may be a lil fuzzy right now (0200) but I can by 100 rds of 9mm Winchester for target at Wal Mart in Austin for about $18...Cant see how $11.67 for 50 rds is any bargain at all?

+1, u still haven't found a deal that beats american eagle .223 at wlmart.
