So I bought two Lightning OTFs... One rattles a little bit which was expected, but the other doesn't rattle at all. Both function perfectly and never get boring. It's not really surprising that quality isn't consistent with such an inexpensive knife, but it's nice to know that at least some of them are nice and tight.

Does anyone else's Lightning rattle, or are most of them rattle free?

So, why is it some of the most expensive knives require manual retraction of the blade?
It is to make it sturdier?

Yeah, that's what mine does; rattle when closed. It locks up nice and tight open, tho. It just bothers me that I can barely hear it when I walk, but I'm probably the only person hearing it :p

It's still tons of fun, lol...

I'm not a knife connoisseur but this thread has me intrigued. Benchmade seems to have a good reputation. Are they a safe bet?

Can someone please post the text of the change in Texas law. I tried Google and could not find it.

I personally can't get behind the tanto blades for some reason. I like the look and bought one to try awhile back (Kershaw of some sort) and just don't like the way they cut when you actually use them. Maybe its user error.

I ordered up a Boker Kalishnikov and a couple of S&W autos from BladeHQ. Honestly I don't like any of them. The boker seems kinda clunky to me and a little cheap. The S&W are definitely lower end knives but no surprise there, they were less than $25.

I really like my Kershaw Leek and would like a auto about the same size/slimness and quality. I might have to pony up for the Kershaw Breakout or a SOG. Any other suggestions?
