What was the first firearm you bought? Were you over or under 21 years old? Do you still have it?

I was under 21, pre 1994 firearm ban, and 30 years later still have it. It’s kind of my go to firearm still.

Single shot shotgun, 12 gage, that thing bruised my shoulder. I was probably 21. Next 30.30 Marlin with a scope, traded that for new Ruger Blackhawk.357.

My first that I got was a 10/22 for my 8th Christmas. The first I bought with my own money was at 21 and bought 4 at once. A Glock 20c, a Saiga 12, a DPMS AR and another 10/22. Still have both 10/22s and the G20C. The others are gone.

JM Marlin 336C in 30-30 long ago sold.

One of the first rifles I bought was a Marlin 336. Took my first deer with it, that I got to process.

Ended up selling my odd caliber firearms and planned to buy some .357 lever guns. Prices jumped and companies got sold. I regret selling my 336, the others I felt ok about. Just had too many odd hunting calibers and decided to go to military/common calibers and ammo.

shitty sporterized mauser was the first gun i bought with my own money, the first gun ive ever owned though was a ruger mini 14.

In the mid/late 90’s a bunch of guys in my military unit were buying SKS’s and Mauser. We had a storage shed we kept them in with a bunch of ammo. A few of the guys would restore the stocks and finishes, then sell them.
I sold the Mauser I had to them, as with the metal stocks they were brutal at the range. I learned to hate them lol.
I kept one full size SKS. When their prices hit $300 I sold a few, and at $500 I sold off the rest.
Looking back, firearms were the best investments I made.

A Stevens single shot 16 gauge shotgun that I bought from my Grandfather for $25 when I was 11. I still have it. No telling how old it is. I'll be 64 in December and it was an old gun when I bought it from him.

ETA: I just did a little research on the gun. I have not looked at it for years. There is no serial number on it but there is a date code and it was made in 1958.

First one I did a 4473 for was a Glock 22 police trade in 3rd gen. My first wife got me a Springfield XD9 on my 21st birthday though. I don't have either of those guns. Nothing special about either - just soulless polymer boomers.
