When two old guys get to sitting around and talking guns, some trading is likely to take place.
My good friend traded me a Colt Commander that his old friend had done some custom work on. At the time, I couldn't believe he was letting it go. The minute that I got it I knew that if I ever decided to let it go, I'd give him first choice at it. Well, his old gunsmith friend crossed the river a couple of months ago. I knew that when I heard of his death, my friend would want the Commander back. He had an emotional attachment to the Commander and I did not.
Today, when I went to visit and shoot the bull and a few bullets, I took the Commander with me. He brought up that he had a few guns that he was going to sell or trade. I asked what he was selling and he said his Smith & Wesson M&P's/Model 10's. He has a 3 screw, a 4 screw, and a 5 screw. He also was selling another blast from the past, an AMT Hardballer. I found this AMT for him at a gun show and it was priced $325. He bought it and it runs perfectly.
I asked if he was interested in working out a trade for the Commander. He jumped at the chance. In the end, he got his Commander back, along with some of my money, and I got 4 classic firearms. It was a good way for two old friends to finish off the year.
