I keep a backpack in both cars with basic bugout stuff like first aid, batteries, rope, paracord, flashlight, tools, rain ponchos, thermal blanket, matches, magnesium fire starters, multifunction knife, and water and life straw..

Yep.. My BIG bag has everything. So much that when we had our annual "Disaster" themed safety meeting at work, the boss would say "If we have a disaster, just make sure you can get back to ILExpatriots truck". But I left it in storage in IL.

We keep a couple bottles of water in the truck, would grab those; and then just walk home. Not interested in camping along the way.

I know this seems kinda like a snooze thread... but ya know? I started it because I kept thinking about the thousands of people still stranded and trapped from Helene. They can maybe go a long time without power, even food... but not water. Prayers continue for them, and for all of us to never be in that situation.

I'm glad you started it....I need to get some water filtration. Good info here. Thx.
