I have had good luck with Kimber 7 round mags, but if I can get hold of them, Wilson 47D's or Chip McCormick Power Mags are what I prefer. When I carry my Kimber, it has a Wilson mag in it. I have had stoppages from Wilsons before due to worn mag springs, but worn springs in ANY mag can present troubles. Cheap mags are fine for the range - you get the bonus of lots of practice clearing failure to feeds! High quality mags for serious social use are a must.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my 1911 came with a pre-installed idiot scratch. After some Googling and a bit of You tubing, I found a way to remove the scratch. Before and after pics.

I used a variation of this method:

Wrapped a thin strip of 600 grit sand paper over a triangle file. A wide tip screw driver would probably work too. Put a drop of 3 in 1 oil on the scratch and work it slowly and very lightly in one direction with the grain. Don't go back and forth. It actually worked a lot faster than I thought it would. About 25 strokes is all it took.

I'm sorry but limp wristing is an urban legend. Hold a 1911 as loosely as you wish and it will still cycle correctly.
I totally disagree with you on this. I have been shooting 1911s since I got out of the Army in 1970. Over the years I have seen numerous problems with mags and people "limp wristing" 1911s. The 1911 is a great firearm if you take care of it and shoot it correctly.

I have tried to make a 1911 malfunction like this, with absolutely no success no matter how loosely the pistol was held.

I base my statement on years of experience with hundreds of different people and 1911s.
I can't help what you can or cannot make a 1911 do! I yield to your superior one man conclusion.

Try it sometime. Hold the pistol loosely, see if you can get it to malfunction.

I am not relying on hearsay or urban legend. Strictly on personal experience from experimentation.

I had much better luck today with the Ronin Operator. Put 175 rounds through it without any kind of malfunction. It had to be the mags that caused the trouble on my first range trip. I replaced the followers and springs with Wilson Combat followers and springs in the 3 Mecgar mags. Bought two new Wilson Combat EMT mags and one Kimber mag. All 6 mags performed perfectly. Ran 3 mags of Golden Sabre too, with no problems.
