Yes. Probably wouldn't have heard the crack otherwise as I wasn't shooting very far.

Doubt the rifle will be shot much at all without the can so I plan to use it for all my load work up.

Supposedly the 220gr give less issues cycling subsonic, but I used 208amax w/o issues.

Lots of variables, the most important being that I got a bunch of amax for cheap.

You do have a barrel as long as a broomstick, you'll probably have to load lighter than published.

And probably gonna stay that way.

It's only 16". Same as what Hodgdon has listed as their test barrel. Who knows.....reloading is finicky business.

Once you get it down it will probably be a very quiet semi w that barrel length though.

Then you can push supers faster w it too.

    Yeah, my barrel is better!

And the guy I got it from said I could have it for free. He's a real nice guy.

Got 5 rounds each loaded at 9 and 9.5gr. Hopefully run them across the chrony tomorrow.

If one works well I'm gonna shorten the aol by about .1 to leave a little more clearance in the mag. And fine tune the load.

Tested the ammo this morning. Was just a bit early so the chrony missed a couple rounds.

All the same as before except powder charge.

    9gr IMR 4227

    1: 978
    2: 1005
    3: 995

1 round didn't read. Another didn't want to chamber. Lack of case trimming caused a ridge at the shoulder during crimp.

These tried to cycle but had 2 bolt over rides probably caused by it not having enough pressure to cycle the bolt all the way back.

    9.5gr

    1: 1040
    2: 1043
    3: 1029
    4: 1029
    5: 1041

Cycled perfectly, seemed quieter than the Hornady. Think I found my load.

Edit to add, bolt did not lock back on last round.

They function perfectly in the HandiRifle.

I was worried about cycling issues but none so far.

I can see a bolt gun being pretty sweet. Hoping I can get some accurate subs in the .308 for that purpose.

Probably something closer to the Magnum Research 30-30 with a threaded barrel.
