    Morally, it's a straw purchase, legally it's not. (as long as the end user is legal to own a firearm)
    I personally require to see a TXDL and complete a bill of sale for each parties protection. If you don't like that, no deal.
    I wouldn't do it without a FTF with the person I know is actually buying it from me. CYA

    You are a resident of Texas and eligible to own and purchase a firearm. You give your friend a gift of $X. Your friend who is also a resident of the state of Texas and is eligible to purchase a firearm goes and buys a firearm from an FFL that coincidentally costs $X. Your friend gives this firearm as a gift to you at a later date.

    This is 100% legal. It is 100% impossible in any way whatsoever for this to be proven otherwise in a court of law (apart from you or him explicitly stating otherwise under oath).
