    Back in the 1970s and 1980s I would ask co-workers if they had ever seen anything unusual.Then I was working with some WW2 guys. Most had stories to tell about seeing something they couldn't explain. In fact, most of the veterans I had the chance to work with. I would bring up the subject. Some had 2nd hand stores they believed. One WW2 vet mentioned that later on he worked with a guy who claimed to have been a guard over a retrieved UFO. .
    Family friends saw a red glowing UFO fly low over them when at a rural campground - that was in the mid 1960s..
    No one saw aliens, just the unusual crafts.
    Personally, I was a toddler when my mom took me and my sister shopping and we and others saw (from our car) three silvery ufos in the daytime. I was scared and crouched on the floor of the rear seat but my Mom and older sister saw them well. It was just a visual sighting, as most are.
