Tec-22. Biggest POS ever made and widely distributed. As you shoot it the top cover holding the bolt in and the sites bends.

But Cheapest is the pair of 22 revolvers I bought at a gun show 23 years ago, $20 for the pair. Technically they work, but are really rough. Bought them to practice fixing revolvers on.

Recently, bought a used Ruger EC9 from the gun store. $109 out the door. Sure, I bought, and was given, cheaper things like 22 rifles.
I just thought it was a good deal.

I stumbled across a Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo w/525 rounds of ammo a few years back. Picked up the package for $200.

I almost hate to repeat this tale; but an associate in Corpus sold a nib British 20GA sidelock SXS and a nib Anschutz .22, oiled hand cut walnut, for $150 the pair. Said “Wife didn’t want guns in the house” ! I had advised keeping them for his Grandsons out in Jim Wells County.

Just out of high school a friend tried to bum $20. I reminded him that he already owed me $20. He walked to his truck and handed me this high standard and the leather rig. He said I should keep it for collateral. That's been 30 some years ago. I sold it before we left for TX along with a Springfield V10 Ultra compact, kinda kicking myself for that..

The cheapest gun I've seen was a Raven at a Houston Pawn Shop many years ago. $15 each or 2 for $25.
I decided to pay $237 for a Colt Government Model 1911.

The old WWII 1911’s from Colt, Remington (Typewriter Co.), International, etc. can always be made to work fine by changing parts.

I bought my dad and I each a Davis Derringer in 38 special. $59 each.
They were the sloppiest things ever. Like capgun toys.
I made shims for the frame and barrel fitment using soda can aluminum. Not an easy task being the size they were. Very small but I did it and they worked great. Now we could hit a car versus a Barn they must of had 10 lb triggers.
Dad passed and I sold them both for $175 for the pair minus the soda can shims.

Mossberg 500 Field and Security Combo used for $250 about 6-7 years ago. It came with a 26” IC choke field barrel as well as an 18” Cylinder Security barrel. This is probably the most versatile gun I have purchased.

Sold off all the furniture and slapped on the Magpul SGA stock and fore grip.

I swapped the fixed choke 26” barrel for a 26” ported vent ribbed barrel with mid bead that took chokes. Had a blast shooting clays with family and friends out in the desert.

I even loaned it to my folks during the pandemic lockdowns so they had something to defend themselves with.

Used it to start clay shooting lessons before upgrading to a Berretta A300 Ultima for bird hunting.

It’s now outfitted with a rifled barrel and scope for slug hog hunting.

    Love this gun

I was at a gun show in Houston in the 1980's and spotted a stack of boxes of new 1911 style pistols for $350. At the time, everybody wanted compensated pistols, but they were rare and expensive. These pistols were a brand called Laseraim - full size 1911's with a compensator built in, all stainless steel. (The pic below is from the internet, but that's what mine looked like.) How could I resist? Well, the quality control on the pistol was well beyond terrible. The frame couldn't hold the magazine firmly, and so it would slip below alignment with the barrel. It might fire 2 shots before jamming. I talked to a gunsmith about it and he wasn't encouraging. The company went out of business pretty quickly. I had a lot going on in my life at the time and forgot about the pistol. It sat in the back of the safe, buried under other stuff until I was kind of on hard times and dug through there looking for stuff to turn into cash. I sold that and a couple of other pistols for cash and a trade on a used pistol. That would have been a good pistol to use in one of those stupid buy-back deals.

Speaking of cheap prices, I remember back in the mid-1980's when Woolworth's in downtown Houston had barrels filled with M1 Garands and M1 carbines. I think they were like $150 each. They were all restored from Korea and were in fairly rough shape, with few of them having matching serial number parts. Imagine walking out of a store in downtown Houston with a rifle these days!
