    Gunz are icky.
Sure wouldn’t want to fire steel case ammo in one.
Fouling and case lacquer all back on the locking ball bearings = baaad juju.

Cool beans! I like new designs, but I am better served by my Saiga-.308. If semi actions are outlawed, i need only plug the gas block and get a bigger bolt handle, and it will be a straight pull 3 lug bolt action.

Interesting. Near the end he stated aluminum receiver. So lockup now occurs in the barrel vs the receiver. I think that’s what Styer did with the scout project to save some weight. That straight pull will make for a nice update to the scout concept and increase the “handiness” Cooper always talked about.

Wonder if they are going to implement this design into some of their target rifles. Some of those timed PRS/NRL type of competitors may like the straight pull concept.

    Blaser R8 FTW.
    I dunno.

Of course I don't know because I'm not filthy rich and I don't own them and I haven't shot them. That said, I've had my hands on many Blasers and was always very impressed.

But I was just a little more impressed by the Merkel the first time I laid hands on one.

As far as I'm concerned, the prize for best modern straight-pull centerfire hunting rifle is debatable. For rimfires, though, the choice is easy; it has to be something built on a Fortner. (My apologies to everyone who's still in love with their T-bolt, etc.) Now that Savage has sorta scaled up the Fortner action, it's probably in contention for best value-for-money in this extremely narrow market.

I am becoming more intrigued and that surprises me.
