The Republican National Convention Platforms in 2016 and 2020 had a massive section on supporting our constitutional with half of a page dedicated to the 2AF alone.

The 2024 RNC Platform has 1/6th of a sentence!

It is not even listed in their 68 things that want to get accomplished in the next 4 years!

Not voting for M. Obama, K. Harris, or J. Biden, but the Republicans are treading on thin ice. Trump will get my vote this year! But with the "The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act" and "Bump Stock Ban" ruling without due compensation (which even B. Obama said would be illegal) my support is starting to waiver.

I think the OP is a democrap operative spreading lies about the republicons.
    LOL

“Our stance is very simple,” Luis Valdes, national spokesman for Gun Owners of America, told the Washington Examiner. “We will not compromise, and we will be relentless in holding Republicans accountable to their campaign promises. Republicans campaign that they are pro-gun. We will hold their feet to the fire.”
That includes Trump for the GOP, Valdes said.

“[The GOP] platform for the last eight years was very solid, and for that to be all scrapped and thrown away is quite perplexing and foreboding for gun owners, especially because of the past history of the Trump administration,” he added.

Valdes faulted Trump for waffling on gun control, specifically pointing out that he praised Florida’s state legislature in March 2018 for passing gun-control measures. Valdes predicted Trump and the GOP’s snub to gun rights activists in the party platform could backfire.

“The Republican Party has forsaken one of the most die-hard bases of the party,” he said.

“We will continue holding any and all lawmakers accountable. It doesn’t matter if they are Republican or Democrat. GOA is not an organization that carries water for a political party. We are an organization that protects, defends, restores, and expands the Second Amendment. We don’t care if someone has an R or D next to them. We hold them the same,” GOA said.

I'm the guy that wrote the original article and I'm the one interviewed in this one.

Our stance at GOA is very simple, we will not stand by and say "hey, gun control is cool because a Republican did it."

We call out Republicans that do bad stuff. Simple as that.

The RNC scrapped the 2A from the platform. I'm calling them out on that.

R or D -one offers less than desirable platform and other no platform -what do you propose as a solution? 4 more years? No vote?

    5. Stop Outsourcing, And Turn The United States Into A Manufacturing Superpower

    6. Large Tax Cuts For Workers, And No Tax On Tips!

    7. Defend Our Constitution, Our Bill Of Rights, And Our Fundamental Freedoms, Including Freedom Of Speech, Freedom Of Religion, And The Right To Keep And Bear Arms

    8. Prevent World War Three, Restore Peace In Europe And In The Middle East, And Build A Great Iron Dome Missile Defense Shield Over Our Entire Country — All Made In America

    9. End The Weaponization Of Government Against The American People

    15. Cancel The Electric Vehicle Mandate And Cut Costly And Burdensome Regulations

    16. Cut Federal Funding For Any School Pushing Critical Race Theory, Radical Gender Ideology, And Other Inappropriate Racial, Sexual, Or Political Content On Our Children

    17. Keep Men Out Of Women’s Sports

    18. Deport Pro-Hamas Radicals And Make Our College Campuses Safe And Patriotic Again

    19. Secure Our Elections, Including Same Day Voting, Voter Identification, Paper Ballots, And Proof Of Citizenship

    20. Unite Our Country By Bringing It To New and Record Levels of Success.”
Have you actually read the platform?

They go into detail on a number of items listed. They don't touch gun rights other than lip service in the preamble.

Looking over the rest of the platform. How does the GOP justify ending inflation and issuing a massive tax cut, while at the same time keeping government entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security untouched?

Since when is continuing government entitlement programs a GOP plank? You can't keep robbing Paul to pay Peter via the ponzi scheme that is socialized healthcare (Medicare) and old age pension (Social Security). The money has to come from somewhere and that's through taxation of the working age folks that are working.

But the GOP is saying they'll slash taxes for 'em too.

So, which is it? They keep stealing from peoples' paychecks to give retirees healthcare and spending money? Or that actually stop stealing from peoples' paychecks?

Because, again, they can't continue to claim they're for lowering taxes, while at the same not in any way touching Medicare and Social Security.

Hard to say it, but it would have been much better for Gun Owners if Beto had beaten Cornyn in 2020. He seriously considered running for Cornyn's spot but made the ill-fated ego-move to run for President instead.

There is no way he could have gotten the anti-gun legislation through like Cornyn!
That's a danger to a degree. When you have "reach across the aisle" Republicans who push bipartisan gun control. It usually has a better chance of passing because "something needs to be done."

My 2c : STFU and vote R. We need to stand together, your dissonance is a gift to the left. If you do NOT vote R you are voting D. Because that vote was never cast, some asshole who votes D just got a free one from YOU.

After THIS election, THEN it is time to discuss these thmpleings.
The time to discuss the issue is EVERY TIME AND ALWAYS.

Hold them accountable. They want your vote? Make them earn it. Put them between a rock and a hard place. Don't let them wiggle out of the tough questions.

While they're campaigning, get them on record on where they stand on gun rights.

Here's an example from the last election in FL. Where we got a Republican on record on where he stood on gun rights.

If this doesn't speak volumes about the Republican's current position on gun rights, nothing does!

They will "claim" it is in there, but it doesn't have any weight compared to the importance of their long list of goals to achieve in the next four years.

Republican platform has 2AF in it:

DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION, OUR BILL OF RIGHTS, AND OUR FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS, INCLUDING FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, AND THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS

I think #7 and #9 pretty much address the 2A issues.....

    7. DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION, OUR BILL OF RIGHTS, AND OUR FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS,INCLUDING FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, AND THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS

    9. END THE WEAPONIZATION OF GOVERNMENT AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

You are despicable. NOW IS NOT THE TIME! Those who make money on clickbait should STFU until we win.
There is MUCH work to be done, but you are NOT helping the cause. Open dissent AFTER the candidates and platform is set does only HARM to our cause.

Sounds to me that you only want to blow your horn in the library. Lets win one, and then work from INSIDE, not blow your horn and the election so you can work from OUTSIDE!
