    He took the cash value option.
    That way he only started off with about $750 million.

    That amount was taxed, leaving him $433 million.
    You are correct, they still got to keep the total money that people paid in through buying Lotto tickets. I get it. Whatever that total amount was from ticket sales.
    You know what I mean, it's a highway robbery scam! He's not getting a lot of what he could have, I guess.:)
    Especially when I have never won more than a few dollars ever.

    Eh, seen it - they started doing that with Spam in Hawaii some 4-5 years ago. I never figured out why though - is it a delicacy there or something?

    Spam was served to troops in Hawaii during WWII because it was too expensive to get fresh meat and Spam didn't require refrigeration. It became a staple there and fresh meat in Hawaii is still more expensive than the mainland.
