I am concerned about what will be added (under the cover of darkness) when this goes from framework to bill.

GOP Senators who negotiated this weekend's deal on gun legislation rejected several Democrat proposals, including an assault weapons ban for those under 21, as they helped shape an agreement lawmakers believe can become law.

An aide for Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who led talks on the matter, told Fox News that among the Democrat ideas Republicans shut down were an assault weapons ban for 18-to-21-year-olds and a mandatory waiting period for all gun sales.

Also on the list of Democrat proposals, the Cornyn aide said, were a 21-day waiting period for those under 21 when buying any firearm; a high-capacity magazine ban; universal background checks; safe storage requirements for all firearms in homes; criminal penalties for not storing firearms properly in the home; and a license requirement to purchase an assault weapon.

BTW, this "framework" Cornyn and the others negotiated includes support for "Red Flag" laws. Those things pretty much go through the Bill of Rights violating every protection possible. Right to face your accuser, right to representation in court, privacy rights, unlawful search and seizure...NOBODY who supports Red Flag laws supports freedom or personal liberty. At all.

I am guessing the actual bill will be hidden as long as possible, then rushed through will all possible speed. And who knows what will be in it.

Cornyn has emphasized that the framework 20 senators agreed to Sunday will not prevent Americans from exercising their Second Amendment rights. In a Sunday tweet, he said, "it will not infringe on the rights on law-abiding gun owners."

Other Republicans, meanwhile, say that they cannot support any legislation that imposes new rules or regulations on owning a firearm and are attacking Cornyn's group for allegedly being squishy on GOP voters' priorities.

My latest email to the senior senator from Texas

In the platform for new gun control legislation any consideration of facilitating and funding 'red flag' laws by the states should be a non-starter by you and all members of Congress. The Caniglia v. Strom case ruling in the Supreme Court in 2021 made it very clear by 9-0 vote that the government can not suspend due process provided in the Constitution. And that's what red flag laws do.

The Court essential said; "The very core of the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee is the right of a person to retreat into his or her home and “there be free from unreasonable governmental intrusion.” There is no due process with red flag laws to take away one's gun and/or freedom and liberty.

In your Fox and Friends network appearance 6/14/2022 saying that funding for states contingent on having a rigorous process to take the guns can't be true. There is no due process when anyone can complain about another party and have their 2A rights violated without due process (trial, jury, judge, lawyer, etc). The rest of platform has some merit and consideration so I am listening for further debate from you and other Republicans.

Bottom line drop any and all consideration of sustaining or encouraging states to have red flag laws.

btw: here is link to Tucker Carlson 6/13/2022 show explaining the Supreme Court ruling mentioned above. He says things so well and clear even for the low-information voters.
