Ain't storing anything on the cloud, personally. For $2000 you have a wealth of options. Word and the balance of the Microsoft office software has moved to an Office 365 subscription package. They do provide substantial cloud storage in that.
Agreed.Ain't storing anything on the cloud, personally.
You can still get the non-subscription photoshop elements but it isn't the full version.Agreed.
The current versions of Photoshop are also subscription based and provide cloud storage. I save all of my photos to local drives.
I learned something today lol. Windows 11 has different versions... 2 of which are 11 Home and 11 Home S mode. Research revealed that the S version is Google specific, can only install G apps, etc. Right. No thanks. There’s a trick for installing Windows 11 on “unsupported” computers…
S mode locks you into Microsoft Store apps only, including Edge for you web browser and Bing for your search engine. I doubt that there's a G mode.I learned something today lol. Mostly I'm learning from y'all and I'm very appreciative for it. Thank you, everyone.
Wow. Then what I read was either pure BS, or my comprehension needs major work. Thanks for the heads up.S mode locks you into Microsoft Store apps only, including Edge for you web browser and Bing for your search engine. I doubt that there's a G mode.
It may also have been someone talking about Chromebooks.Wow. Then what I read was either pure BS, or my comprehension needs major work. Thanks for the heads up.
You were right; I added to my post. ^^It may also have been someone talking about Chromebooks.
S mode can be toggled; I think of it as a way to keep those pesky users from doing dumb things. It's best just not to give them admin access.
I know, but Elements does not fill all my needs. You can still get the non-subscription photoshop elements but it isn't the full version.
Probably true, and she did mention she prefers Android, so that familiarity may help, but I haven't used an Android or Chromebooks so I can't say for certain.ANDROID BASED CHROMEBOOK IS A GOOD OPTION!
Nor mine but it is robust enough for probably 90% of people.I know, but Elements does not fill all my needs.
Not a bad idea.I'm a lot cheaper than these suggestions! For the email and general browsing I do, a $400 HP laptop from Walmart works great. The battery will have to be replaced in a year or so otherwise it's more than adequate.
For your budget you could get two and still be ahead. Totally different deal if you "work" on it, get something more robust but for a bigger screen and keyboard than your phone, easily fits the bill. A 1tb external drive is likely more than you'll ever use and can be moved to your next PC.
I have bought that one before when I need a computer in a pinch. It was definitely not worth fixing when it started giving trouble though.I'm a lot cheaper than these suggestions! Checked online and Dell Laptop Deals has several models listed at $250- 550.I'm a lot cheaper than these suggestions! For the email and general browsing I do, a $400 HP laptop from Walmart works great. The battery will have to be replaced in a year or so otherwise it's more than adequate.

External drives just plug into a USB port like a thumb drive does. It's a true example of "plug and play."Not a bad idea.
I need to learn how external drives work.
Thanks

Have you ever tried Krita? I have Photoshop (through work ) but use and prefer Krita for 95% of the things I do.I know, but Elements does not fill all my needs.
