I keep a membership on Nextdoor just to stay abreast of any thefts in our rural area. I ignore the stupid posts from the Dallas transplants who are outraged when they hear a gunshot or who post pics of every stray dog or cat hat shows up. Basically, if Nextdoor was on paper it would not be worth hanging in the outhouse.

This was confirmed today by their main headline on the forum which led me to delete my membership. I can do without this in light of the handiwork of the socialists we are seeing on the streets.

I deleted mine a year ago.
We were flying to meet family in CA for the 4th of July so we had a SMALL firework show at my house the Saturday night before. I love the 4th, and i love fireworks.
You should have seen what a few neighbors were posting about it.
I deleted my account so i wouldnt have to hear the crying come new years.

I keep mine just so I can read everyone bitching and moaning about fireworks twice a year. It's too much fun.

Oh and how they spotted coyotes in the fields near our subdivision.

Nextdoor IS useful, and I'm here in Dallas. Honest, there are some really reckless gun users in my neighborhood as my truck bears witness to.

Same here. We've had plenty of incidents of people shooting in the neighborhood park after night (houses in all directions, no berms), and idiots driving down the streets shooting out of the windows. I don't care if someone needs to take care of a varmint, but regular reckless shooting and mag dumps are not acceptable in a suburban neighborhood.

    Here and there
A year ago someone took/posted pictures of my dad walking his two German Shepherds with the leash draped over his shoulders and not directly connected to the dogs. He walks them five days a week in the mid-afternoon while everyone is working.

The neighbor posted a rather not kind caption about him and the dogs, both of which are trained at the level of police dogs. By the end of the day about five old ladies had bitched about how the dogs could run away and eat their (unleashed) cats.

What surprised us and the poster was that over 40 different neighbors commented on it that they knew him and the dogs and that they appreciated him walking around the neighborhood whenever they were at work as they thought it might deter crime.

The various old ladies chimed in more and then got called out about how their cats were clawing up cars and killing birds, which surprisingly shut them all up.

At the end the OP apologized.
