Regarding the DC-3, or in my case the C47. In 1962 several in my unit were flown to HQ in a C47. The cargo door was wired shut and there was a wire cutter in a pouch hanging next to the door. The flight engineer instructed that if we had to get out in a hurry the first one to the door was to cut the bailing wire and kick the door off.Not an airport story. My dad told me a plane story... went divin in Cozumel around 69 or so. Took a DC-3 out of Hobby. They had to wrap a rope around the starboard engine and pull start it with a tug. lol
Bet the FAA wouldnt go for that these days...
