The portable AC unit is over 10 years old.
Probably doesn't have any entire months worth of use on it.

Dang. House two streets over struck by lightning and caught fire. Don’t have any more details.

Follow up; apparently no injuries and as minimal damage as you can get when your house catches fire.

House behind ours got struck and caught fire a couple of years ago.
The fire damage was minimal.
The fire department damage was bad enough it had to be torn down and a new house built.
